any update yet? i would PM you, but now a person needs 15 posts to PM?? when did that change? :(

Her is the dreaded, but cheerful update ! :D Sorry it has taken so long, family has been hijacking me for the past four days basically - my wife landed a new job WITH a raise ! WOOT ! Panic can go away now :D Anyways, with the discovery of this thread : http://www.laserpointerforums.com/forums/YaBB.pl?num=1210732931

I can return the extra sleds I bought for a full credit to the guy I was buying them from. I can do a full refund of everyone who's sleds have not shipped yet (with full apologies) so you can save OVER 50% on purchasing new ones ! The ENTIRE drive is $18.99 plus shipping (use the discount code form the other thread to save more !) and you can essentially buy two for the price of one. those that have not had theirs shipped yet included only the folks taht were getting harvested items, or special orders...I don't want to hold up stuff any longer than this, so if you STILL want the sleds you ordered from me, please PM me - if not, then I will refund your purchase price - all I am out is shipping (thank goodness !) I personally ordered a buncha drives for my use from Geeks.com since they were so freaking cheap ! I cannot in all good conscience keep your money unless you are aware of the HUGE price difference !!! I'll be back in a few hours, I am being dragged along (almost kicking and screaming) to Sam's for grocery shopping now :(

Well the way I see it, I paid for a sled and knew the price so i'm expecting that sled, at the time I ordered this other offer wasn't around and if it was I didn't see it, my fault not yours. I think my sled already shipped but even if it wasn't we made a deal and need to stick with that deal. There will always be cheaper offers after you buy something it's a fact of life Live with it.

I agree. We knew that there was a likelyhood of a cheaper source somewhere. This was purchased with the understanding that these were going to be a sure thing and instantaneously shipped.

iewed - if you wish a refund, I can do it today. All others will be shipped out on Monday, per our original agreements. I only wanted to make sure that everyone knew about the cheaper prices available, so nobody felt wronged. I have no problems with fulfilling my part of the bargain - just didn't want anyone to have to spend more than needed - if that makes sense ?

****EDIT - too much sun on my head....Monday is a holiday here in the U.S. - shipping will happen on Tuesday for those being shipped out - sorry for my brain fart !

yep, it makes sense. Also that type of honesty of making sure everyone was happy with the price is something not everyone would do. Thanks ;)

Worth mentioning is the fact that those cheap drives are 'refurbished'. (not sure if it matters for the diode life)

Greg, the sleds your selling for $42 dollars are new...correct?

Correct - they come straight out of NEW HD drives. I would think that the "standard" way of refurbing drives would entail replacement of the optical chain - actually, once you get into an optical drive, other than that, or maybe some teeth coming off the gears, there is not too much that could go wrong !
