Thanks for the pictures offroad :)

I sent Daguin diode #1 for decanning, I still have diode #2 for the killing test.

Wow, you camera made the colors look perfect! That's almost exactly how the two different wavelengths appeared.

Notice the slight bluish hue in the middle of the 520 :)

So I am contemplating making a gun sight using a 520nm... you didn't do a shake or drop test did you?

Okay. Dropped it from a height of 4 meters three times.

Similar output, and no physical damage that I can see, diode window is still intact.

that is promising thank you! it is hard to swallow the thought of abusing a $140 diode but i might just do it. I just got a glock 35 gen 4 and an RRA AR15 so I was thinking I already have a spare x-boost mini for it so why not :) I have modified red ones already to fit the 532nm modules but they don't work in the cold and a pretty large to try to cram in a small package.

that might also take a little stress of people when using it if they no they can accidently drop it and the odds of it dying are low.

It depends on the surface it falls. I have ceramic tiles on my floor. A 445nm M140 rolls of the table and was LED from only 80cm. :(

Maybe jay can make some hexagon hosts instead of just sinks... ;)

It landed on a cinderblock I placed for the target. :)

Arg do you still have one of these diodes you are willing to torture. This might be a little overboard but I was wondering about what wavelength and power it would output if it was in liquid nitrogen lol.

I saw this with an led

then this weeba2kv posted in a thread

Where do I find liquid nitrogen?

I still have one diode, the other was sent to Dave for decanning then to Blord for the macros

Wouldn't you be able to get a similar effect if you used a large pelteir(TEC) unit? AFAIK those things can get pretty damn cold if you give them good enough cooling. Hook a large 200W unit up to a CPU water cooling block and you should be able to get that thing pretty damn cold. Plus the rig would be safe and highly reusable.
