This GB is now closed. Thanks to all participants of the first round. A new GB will be announced soon :yh:

This GB is for the Osram PL450B 80mW Single Mode diode and for the 638nm Mits.500mW Multi-Mode diode.
Prices for round2 will be 38$ per unit for the PL450B & 76$ per unit for the Mits.500mW + shipping.

The supplier was found originally by AnthoT. I am essentially running this GB for AnthoT, since he is doesn't want to take another Group Buy on himself at this time. Check out his website!
The Minimal Order Quantity from the supplier in round2 will be 10 units of each type of diode, for a total minimum of 20pcs.

International shipping from Israel is:
Small Parcel Tracked - 5$
EMS (faster, also tracked) - 27$
I've slightly over-quoted these (by about a dollar), to cover unexpected issues.
For packaging, what I do is wrap each diode in a cushioning material, wad these into a hard plastic film canister (for extra protection against crushing during shipping), and put those into a regular parcel envelope.
Any leftover monies at the end of the GB will be donated to the forum. I make no profit from this GB, other than getting the same good deal on laser diodes ;)

If you'd like to participate in the second round of this Group Buy, you should fill in your details on this spreadsheet.

Round2 status:
- To enjoy the low prices quoted above, the order from the supplier must be placed before September's end.
- DHL shipping from China to Israel takes 4-5 business days.
- I will prepare your packages during the 2-3 days immediately following delivery and ship them all on the same day.
- Hopefully everyone will have their diodes by late October.
- If you're interested in these diodes, get in on this round now; I doubt that I will have the time to hold a third one.

Your friendly host is a curious chap and would love to know:
- Which hosts are you likely to use for builds with this diode?
- Which driver do you plan to use, and at what current will you set it?

Some upgrades and extras, such as pressing the diode into a module (and soldering on an SMD cap and leads), are also available. I have modules of several materials, and a few lenses available as well. Anyone interested in these should contact me individually by PM.

Re: GB: PL450B diodes pressed into modules, 39$ each

Thanks for offering to do this instead of me :D.

It's great to have others stepping up to host GB's :D
This one is especially sweet

Are they really in a o-like green module? What is the purpose of this? I dont have a green module so I cant say what that would be for. If I am just over thinking this just say so.

I would be in for 2 at this price. I just dont get the module part. pls explain and I will confirm.

I guess that's not a green module just looks like one I dont own a module like that but I would trust you all know what your doing..

I take 2

ill be down for 3 if we can get bare diodes, i hate the idea of brass modules when there is aluminum and copper available!

Yes, AnthoT confirmed that they really are in an o-like module. I can't say what the purpose of it is, I would personally prefer to get the diode bare too; but at this time, this how the offer is...

(sans driver)

I am trying to find out with the supplier if they can provide the bare diodes as well. It might be a couple of days until I get an answer though, as it's currently nighttime in China and I don't know if they work on Saturday.

Yes, that is the module & the picture I provided dyeote :)

They have them in bare diodes too, just have to get the price :)

But the front unscrews as I showed dyeote, you can put any normal Aixiz lens also, and no driver is included :)

I cc'd you on my letter to the supplier, did you see it?
Awesome to know that they have the bare diodes, it seems most people here prefer it like that;
once I have a price on them I'll add an option to the OP :)

Without the module I reckon the price is even lower.

I hope so too :)
Any decrease in price which I manage to secure from the supplier will be immediately reflected in the OP and spreadsheet.
Though naturally, I gotta be careful with making changes to those, as only downward modifications will be tolerated here :D

I definately would go bare diode if possible. Just got a 3.8mm diode press sent out so I dont have to use the home made one ever again...

& if anyone needs I have 23 3.8mm aluminum modules left :D

For the PL450B aluminum modules work good ;)

Are they normal aixis length or? I might take you up on some. I have a couple RHD mod38's left but there are other 3.8 diodes I am interested in too so could allway's use a couple.
