I allready blew cash on the mits500 I am still waiting for JULSE to recover from life.. to hear if he fixed the one I sent him or not.. I WILL SAY BE CAFEFULL WITH YOUR BENCHTOP PSU's I killed alot of diodes on mine.. but 70$ is tempting right? 70$.. lol I blew 220$ plus 2 shipping charges for mine twisted the pins off a one too ..I still love mine but it definately needs it's divergence fixed er Corected.. but It's some intense red light even without a lense.. makes a nice party lamp.. lol

Also I got 12V adapters working the Ophir now and it actually zero's out after 5 mins or so. It never did that with the 9V batteries.. it was allway's sitting +30mw I wired the adapters to 9V battery leads with reversed polarity so I could make my 9V leads plug into the adapters just in case I ever need to use the sensor with batteries again.

The Baron That dog has some toungue My wife was asking me how much $$$ for the dog..

If you want a nice red party lamp you can't beat the phlatlight, DTR has them for peanuts (compared to your diode-massacre-budget anyhow), and they're nearly impossible to kill :)
I'm still looking for a way to give mine the 8A that it can take; but I can say that even with the ~3A (boorish guess) that it's getting from my measly computer PSU it's still hella bright.
I gotta get me a decent bench-top PSU one of these days...

I got the 2 TEC's from my Phatlights For the Beverage chiller.. Problem with the cans is they have very little surface area so I need a heatsink made that will fit on the tec's and also fit the cans they make arround here.... I got a blue phatlight-(121 ???) No tec though looks like it maybe a temp sensor and I dont know if I should cut it like the 54's... I baught my raysoon for a 54 red.. and baught the glass lenses I could I thaught might fit..

There is a TEC in the PT-54? :wtf:
I'm looking at one right now trying to figure out where... This might sound really dumb: but are you driving the sensing thermistor and calling it a TEC? please PM me about this before I start coming up with conspiracy theories :p

Did you buy just the pt54 LED or did you buy the whole unit with tec and heatsink and lens? DTR sells both. Both of mine had a small tec plate just under the led with them when I baught the complete unit. The pt-121 does not come with a tec.

Re: double GB: PL450B SM diodes 39$ each && Mits500 MM diodes 76$ each

The old A-series projectors had a TEC with the LED the new M140 projectors just use a larger heatsink and a fan to cool the LED. No more TEC's.:)

OP updated with all manner of fat red diode goodness; check it out y'all!

I guess I have one of the newer ones then.

I'd love to do a build with a TEC one of these days...

Re: double GB: PL450B SM diodes 39$ each && Mits500 MM diodes 76$ each

Look on ebay they are really cheap I have been looking at some larger units for my chiller.. Eh anything that makes cold like this is facinating to me..

Hey with DTR behind the red GB I am in for a couple at that price.. Everything I have ever gotten from Jordan has been top notch or he made things right.. Not that anyone else hasnt.. I actually have not been disappointed in anything so far that I have baught through the forum..

Going back to this shot the diodes offered here are the two on the outsides. far right is the pl450b far left is the mits500..

Yeah, the Peltier effect is a pretty "cool" one ;) :p
All TECs I saw so far on ebay are 40x40mm, too large... did you find any that are closer in size to our hosts' profiles?

Re: double GB: PL450B SM diodes 39$ each && Mits500 MM diodes 76$ each

The package has arrived!
<rant> Though I had to pay the DHL guy a 28$ fee to to get it
*SIGH* I'm already down 50$ on this GB, more than 3$ per diode :(
Not sure yet what this means for round2's chances :undecided: </rant>
See attached pictures of package and the sweet tiny diodes therein ;) I'll be divvying them up to the individual packets tomorrow, and hopefully have them all shipped on Tuesday

cheers Kiz, very good of you
yeah, 10$ for three diodes is about right :thanks:

I really don't want to give up on round2, but since I started this GB I discovered two things the hard way: 1) that I pay PP fees twice: once when you guys pay me and again when the supplier charges me for them, which totals a whopping extra 9%! 2) There's a hefty tax/fee to pay when receiving the package :(
I bring you these diodes at what they cost me (again, I make no profit on this GB, and I pay for my own diode too, just like you guys); but I also need this price to be attractive (at least more attractive than just ordering them from DTR, eh?) if we hope to reach the minimum order.
Right now it's looking like the price per unit in the second round (if it happens) will be 42$... at this price, would you still go for it?

I still think that 42$ is quite a bargain.
