Re: GB: PL450B 3.8mm blue Single Mode diodes, 37$ each

I don't know about birds, but for human physiology, glycerin is completely inert. And it's so easy! you only need to vaporize two or three drops of it to fog-up a whole room.

The 'smoke' coming off of dry ice is condensed water from the atmosphere, the sublimated CO2 being transparent. Also, these tiny water droplets are floating in the coldest air in the room which will quickly carry the 'smoke' to the floor. My guess is that you'll have a tough time fogging up an entire room with dry ice and frankly, if you managed it (maybe with a hot, humid room and tons of dry ice), I'd be worried about oxygen displacement by all the CO2, which being a serious choking hazard for humans I would guess will be even more dangerous for birds...

I don't know what hockey tape is made of, but if it's a kind of plastic of rubber then its burn-products (which are actual smoke for a change) might well be poisonous...

I would think that the tape would be quite toxic. Eh I guess the glycerin would be ok in that same kind of isolated environment with the exhaust fan so I would doubt it would be any more harmfull than the cig smoke. Ya just never know for birds they have very sensitive respretory systems. Can ya smoke glycerine with a laser?

You only need to heat it; it's transparent, so a visible laser would hardly be absorbed in it. I'm not sure to which wavelengths glycerin is opaque...
But why work hard? Just heat any old pan on the stove, take it to the room you want to fog up, drop some glycerin in, wait a minute, done.
I've done this, it works like a charm :)

Because any old pan with 3M on it will kill my birds in about 7 Mins.. Or the silicone baking sheets and spatula's if left in a hot pan or oven.

I have alot more invested in my birds than lasers and the birds win.. the $$$ is one thing the emotional aspect would be another thing all together...

NO ONE WOULD WANT TO SEE ME CRACK BEYOND REPAIR...

:D Great, I will want one for sure, (I'll have to wait a bit to have the $), maybe I'll try to get yobresal to build it for me... :p -Glenn

Would frying bacon until its crispy be a problem? It smokes the room enough to get a nice beam and you have a great snack afterwards! ;)

Edit: In a pan without non-stick ie std old iron frying pan

Always happy to help you out. Since they are only driven at 200mA smaller hosts are available with this build such as pen lasers, minis, CR2 and CR123A builds. Just something to think about. I am using a single 14500 build.

Re: GB: PL450B 3.8mm blue Single Mode diodes, 37$ each

I want another 14500 host. I have 6 14500 batteries left and only 1 host to put them in. I have an ultrafire c3 or sh-035 but no heatsink or pill for it I should just turn it back into a flashlight.

I gota start marking my hosts too as to what driver is in there and what batteries are accepted because last week I accidentally put in 2x16340's in a 18650 host and killed the diode because it was set up for 4V not 8V. The driver still works...

Ouch, hope it wasn't an expensive diode.
Its a good idea to get a tiny bit of that white painters tape, write 18650 on it and press it against the bottom of the host inside the battery compartment. Personally I always leave batteries in my lasers (have a back up set when the other set is charging) so it's not an issue. Also since I built most of them I know every single part inside (including the driver which dictates what battery/batteries to use)

Re: GB: PL450B 3.8mm blue Single Mode diodes, 37$ each

I have so many batteries now I might start selling them.. Naa this isnt my business.. I do however want to sell off some stuff... hosts, heatsinks, led's and pills/drivers etc etc.. I have a small work area and I am starting to box things up which is never a good idea..

Elete guidesman M-140 1.8A mogasm linear copper aixis with battery 150$

Just not for us Canadian folks...

Hrm what did I say?

This is the one I want to sell with or without the G2 lense. 150$ I will put in a blue aixis glass for 405 445. Still meters 1.2W - 1.5W depending on batteries.

445nm A140 1.35A 1.7W guidesman

I have two 14500 hosts and their fitted heatsinks, but they're already designated for a 12x and a Mits.300 build. So I'm also in the market for a nice 14500 host + heatsink. Open to hearing offers :)

Re: GB: PL450B 3.8mm blue Single Mode diodes, 37$ each

I have my mits300 in a c6 same for my 1st 12x I am actually in the midsts Eh whatever.. I am playing with my new s06J mounting it to my Wallnut DVD/CNC.. I want to be able to take a gerber or eagle and make my own stencils for the boards I like to build by exporing the the cream layer to the 12x cutter. I am way to shakey for this.. or I dont have the right tools..

I hit the edit button that time and it still posted twice! Sorry trying..

hehe, no worries mate :D
I'm struggling a little with eagle myself these days, designing a simple board to hold some AMCs...

btw, I have this nice 500mA linear Jib driver, but it's a little over 19x10mm, so it's too long to fit in a C6 pill or vertically above it. Where does anyone else use these? Bigger hosts?

I used a moh linear that was too long for the little hosts too on my first build.. it ended up working out but was a tough one to build..
