It really is impossible to say how much something is going to cost to ship.(unless you charge the customer after you've shipped it) You can get an idea of a certain item (like my barrels for example) weigh 1 unit. Add onto that weight some packing materials, and the box, and you have a basis for how much it's going to cost you to ship just 1. When it comes to multiple orders the shipping cost goes up. You effectively have to double the weight of packing materials, and product and include that in the cost of shipping. So if someone were to order say 20 of them, and you charge one fee for shipping, but that particular order goes over what they paid for shipping, then your at a loss. So you come up with a general idea of what it's going to cost for materials (the packaging and box) include postage, and set it as a general fee for shipping it. Then when you have the order that goes above (I once had to pay $30 to ship to hawaii and should have paid $8.00) you have a small surplus from other shipping costs to cover this. and it's not a matter of if it happens. but WHEN it happens cause it will. I spent a total of $300 on packing materials for my barrel GB. That included boxes, bubblewrap, and tape. It can be spensive. I can't count how many times I've figured this $$$ for shipping and had to fork out $5-$20 more than I figured.
