Re: GB oemlasersystems goggles

I thought the OD 1.5 would have given you better protection.

Re: GB oemlasersystems goggles

The ELX - YAG $140 is 2+ from 600-670 and 5+ from 670 - 690, and 5+ from 900 to 1100. VLT is only 7% though.

DI4 $119 covers 5+ from about 600 - 850. Not your 1064, but has fantastic red protection.

I wish it were, or I wouldn't need to buy another pair of goggles in this GB. Unfortunately, 150mW of red is about the max you can use with these goggles:

150mW x 10^(-1.5) = 4.7mW

It's a great pair for most greens though, as its OD2.5 provides an order of magnitude better protection (i.e. protected to about 1.5W), and it protects you against the IR too.

Re: GB oemlasersystems goggles

Looks like I need good goggles for aligning a projector. (I'm already blind on one side, but not thanks to a laser) so I doubly value my eyesight. I just gave away my last set with a pointer. Fortunatly I'm not dumb enough to fire up anything over 5mw without eye protection.

I'll need plenty of warning when payment is needed. 2 weeks is plenty.

I'm in for ARG style 34 @ $80.50

and

RB2 style 34 @ $119.

These cover my visible wavelengths in the projector: 532, 445 and 637nm.

Cheers

No worries, there will be plenty of time for payment (at least 2 weeks)

Re: GB oemlasersystems goggles

I'm glad there is still some time to decide. Something that covers 405 to 660 would be nice for taking beamshot pics. My project is also RRRGBB. Something like 660, 642, 635, 532, 473 and 445 if I remember right. A nice white a full power is around 2W. The reason I would like 808 to 1064 is for crystal alignment. I have stuff for 473 but may try 532 eventually.

Re: GB oemlasersystems goggles

Yup, about 2 years ago was the other GB. It was a great sale, and you have to jump on this shit when it happens.

At a minimum it saves you the cost of shipping.

The last OEM Goggle GB was almost 2 years ago.

This is one of those time you need to jump while the iron is hot.

*sigh* afraid of that... alright, well I guess if I can find a pair that's fairly reasonably priced with the discount, that can take the place of the backup pairs I've been thinking of getting. Just means I'll only have one extra pair, but I guess that's not terrible for now.

Well, the ARGs were suggested to me before. Is that pretty much the best option for a 1.8W blue? Not 100% committed yet, still considering.

Re: GB oemlasersystems goggles

I've been through this several times now, but I am not hitting on all cylinders right now.

Which is the best pair for red?

Thanks.

Re: GB oemlasersystems goggles

Be aware that those ones have less VLT than the RB2's - its either OD or VLT. So it depends if you want super duper reflection protection, or if you want to be able to view the spot through the glasses while working with the laser.

Alright, I'll probably go for the ARGs then. About... 75% sure I'll go in for this GB. Will confirm and specify frame before final arrangements are made.

Edit:

on a similar note, I'm currently assuming a 1.8W 445nm is powerful enough to still produce a visible dot through the OD7+ of the ARGs -- is that accurate, or would the AL3s be a better buy?

As I recall... and someone correct me if I'm wrong... OD 7+ will still allow the visible dot from even a 1W 445nm - needless to say a 1.8W

I added you to the list in the OP. Let me know if anything changes.

We currently have 19 on the list. Just 6 to go for 25% off!

Alright. Was pretty sure I'd read something along those lines here, just wanted to confirm so I didn't end up getting these and unexpectedly end up with an invisible laser.

Alright, that's reasonable since I'm leaning considerably more toward "yes". Go ahead and put me down for style 60 as well (yeah, mad scientist look!), and like you said, I'll let you know if anything comes up.

Re: GB oemlasersystems goggles

I can see the dot of ~350mW of 445nm with the ARG's. I'll check tonight with an even lower power.
