Hi Everyone :) ,

In the last few weeks I talked to Paul , who helped me with the S1 lenses GB , about replacing the common 501B hosts.

So I came up with a new host(do not have a name for it yet).This is a quick 3D drawing of the Host :

SMPComplete-GB-page-001_zps5dac9357.jpg

* Please note : full drawing is attached in a PDF file to this post *

Some specs :

Diameter - 30mm
Total length - 135mm

Weight of the host ( calculated with software - estimate weight ) :

* Cu Head Host - 244g
* Al Head Host - 135g

I must say that I am open to suggestions about upgrading the host or changing it. So if you got any good ideas let me know.

The idea here is to keep the costs low. The goal here is to replace the 501B and other small flashlight hosts we use.

I have designed it in such a way that it has two parts only.
The batteries will be inserted from the front of the barrel. Like in my SS laser I sell here :
http://www.sflasers.us/Stainless_Steel_635nm/p2035127_12415135.aspx

I sent the drawing to my Supplier and got some prices.

I will say though , that I am earning a bit here.

Prices :

* Aluminium Host - $18
* Copper Heatsink Upgrade - $5
* Set contact board in place and add leads - $2

Paint prices :

* Black matte / White matte - $5
* Mirror Polished option - $10

These prices include PP fees. Shipping cost will be around $7 for 2-3 hosts , $13 for 3-5 hosts , $17 for 5-10 hosts etc ... So costs are pretty low.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

These prices will be for this GB only. MOQ is 75pcs. So when we will reach that number we can close the GB.

For now , I just want to see if there is any interest ? ... :)

Paul will also help me run this GB. As I understood he is interested in a couple of these.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I would like to hear some comments. But please keep in mind that we are not looking for a host that will cost much. We want to keep it simple :beer:

Thanks Ahead :wave:

Re: Feeler | New CNC Machined Custom Designed Host for $18

Theloker301 and I have been talking about this host over the past week and thought it would be best released as a group buy for a reduced price. These hosts have the top part as the heat sink, and is available in copper for the top part at a very reasonable price. The mass of the heat sink is greater than the 501B host and with the copper option is large enough to accommodate most builds. If anyone is interested in this group buy, post here for now as we gear up for this next group buy.

Re: Feeler | New CNC Machined Custom Designed Host for $18

Is there any way to get a sample so we have a visual reference?

Re: Feeler | New CNC Machined Custom Designed Host for $18

I would buy two or more if they are plug and burn and have the leads attached so that all I would have to do is add DTR module with driver , solder black to black, red to red. If this is the case, I would most definitely be in on this!

Re: Feeler | New CNC Machined Custom Designed Host for $18

crazyspaz,not at the moment. The hosts are being machined in China, and the number that initially get made will be determined by the interest in this group buy. The host itself has not gone into production as of yet. :D

Basically I can make a render of it in 3D graphics for you to see. Though we can not make a pre-production as it will increase the cost.

It will look exactly like in the drawing. A bit bigger than the 501B host.

I will offer them as Plug&Burn if needed for about $2 extra for the work.

Oh, so this is basically like how kryton grooves were made? Cool. At this cheap of a price I am sure I could be persuaded to buy one or two :whistle:

Especially if we could get some of that sick "oil spill" anodizing that Ehgemus does...Maybe i would have to get that taken care of personally.

Also make sure the company making these doesn't add a clear layer of anodizing to everything like what happened with the grooves...

Re: Feeler | New CNC Machined Custom Designed Host for $18

I'd be in for 3 of them wih copper heatsinks

icecruncher, let me know how many you want and what type of head you want and addons if you want any. I have been working to get the spreadsheet up and working, and it is finally available to everyone. Thanks, Paul

Re: Feeler | New CNC Machined Custom Designed Host for $18

I also want the copper heatsink upgrade

Re: Feeler | New CNC Machined Custom Designed Host for $18

ru124t, you got it, buddy. Check the spreadsheet.

Re: Feeler | New CNC Machined Custom Designed Host for $18

Need to know more.

1. Will these have any type of coating or be bare metal?

2. Is it available in a all copper version?

3. Will it fit 2 x 18350 batteries?

4. What is the depth for 12mm module? Will it be able to fit full length aixiz module?

Re: Feeler | New CNC Machined Custom Designed Host for $18

Rifter, these are made to replace the 501B hosts, so they will take a single 18650, or two 16340 or 18350 batteries. Yes it will be able to take a full AixiZ type module. The copper option is just for the head. The options for the host are that they can be painted since thejoker301's father owns a paint shop and can be painted with metal flake, but the colors will be limited as Eitan doesn't want to make this too complicated. But, the paint will be auto type paint.
