Re: GB feeler laser barrels

Kenom, don't worry at all. You don't sound anything like dictator!

Either way, I'm sure this will be a truly fantastic product!
Keep me posted if you need a hand with the CAD designs, then you might be able to save some $$'s.....

Re: GB feeler laser barrels

Looks like the consensus is for cr123. Should we go with 1 or 2? I'm leanin towards 2 so that we can power a bluray of it.

I also prefer 2 but it might be the only optional idea that really wouldn't cost much money if any to offer.

Have there been ANY votes for AA or AAA ? I think the CR123's would definitely be the way to go for this, Kenom...single, or double cell - perhaps make them with interchangable barells ? So you can pop on a single cell tube, or a double cell tube if you wish....hmmmmmmm - to kinda keep from putting the cart before the horse, or reinventing the wheel, or any other silly old saying - perhaps you can contact Mcgizmo from CPF to see if he will share some source tips, or contacts in the metal working field ? He may be willing to assist, I dunno - up to you....and also, I am not 100% certain what kind of advice he would give, if it would even be helpful - but in my opinion, the more advice you get on this, the better off the finished product is going to be, I think !

Re: GB feeler laser barrels

Greg, that is exactly what I was going to do. However since the initial run has to be the same I will offer just one size to begin with and based on sales from then on will include the option of getting a different barrel for AA's and other battery sizes. There were a few that indicated they wanted AA's but it was only like 2 or 4. Me included. I prefer the longer barrel than the shorter but that is just my preference. So we will sway on the groups opinion on this one. I'll go for 2 CR123 barrel size and if you would like a 1 Cr123, look in the future for an option to get just the battery tube for a single CR123 and a AA tube.

Re: GB feeler laser barrels

I'm sure it wouldnt be hard to make a dummy battery anyway, if you really only want to drive it with one, but i guess the issue is with the length of teh tube.
but 2 CR123s would suit me!

Re: GB feeler laser barrels

I wouldn't mind something that can run off 2 14500's (AA size) as they put out 3.6V and have a nice package size :) And the barrel can also double as a AA host ;)

Re: GB feeler laser barrels

well yeah there is that, but some (like me) may be planning to sell these, and 123s are a LOT more available than 14500s, for random people to go and buy.

Re: GB feeler laser barrels

I've actually come up with an excellent idea to solve the problem of the recess on the back side and allowing for easier access to the diode.

Pokin the hole and assembly for the diode out a bit and allows for threads and the barrel to fit into the groove.  This is easier to do insallation wise however I don't know how easy that is going to be to add threads to.  Guess we'll find out!

Re: GB feeler laser barrels

I would love one. I know I don't have many posts here, I will send you a PM kenom.

Any updates on the driver circuits that you have been testing? I seem to remember one that was switchable for multiple current loads. I know they come in packs of like 20, so would you be willing to distribute the drivers at all kenom?

yeah. I'm still working on finding some circuits. but there will be drivers with these by the time these ship out.

Re: GB feeler laser barrels

Looks like this has stalled. All we need to do is get 10 MORE!!! Our goal is within reach. I'm not trying to pressure anybody but this is going to be sweet. climb aboard the barrel wagon. (heck we might get drunk on the trip!!) Wooot woooot!

Re: GB feeler laser barrels

I'm interested (2 CR123's), but after reading everyone's input, I'm still a little lost on what the final lens setup will be. he one from the 12x30mm Aixiz that screws in?
And I haven't seen anyone mention the button. I'm pretty lousy at rigging up housings. I can't even get random reds or greens apart without destroying them. I'm not all that optimistic on getting the driver board or switch installed.

Up mine to two barrels please. With drivers this is going to be sweet!
