well, I got the bill today for the prototype I had a machine shop put me togther so I could show you all what these would look like.
Sticker shock has hit me hard on this end!!!!

$895

Needless to say I'm at a loss as to how to pay for this. I was expecting maybe $100.

That sucks...Kenom, these barrels will be very much worth the price you have asked. Drivers included! Why don't you go ahead and set up something on your site for a contribution to help you out there. Maybe make a link in your signature. I'll be looking for it. I'll put in my $10 bucks...

Never ceases to amaze me how generous we are as a community. I don't want you to think that I am not appreciative of the gesture. The machine shop and I have worked out an arrangement to have me make some laser equipment for him (basic alignment tool) that will essentially cost me $100 to make. plus he's asked me to make him a super powerful laser sight for his gun so it's all good guys. I'll of course charge him my fee for my expertise and labor so it' will balance out in the long run! (I personally think he did it on purpose to get me to make these things for him) I am simply blown away by everyone's support of me and this project. (too bad they don't have a smiley showing a face basking in a glow) I've made a lot of really good friends here that I wish I had in real life in my town. (might have if I actually got off this computer and interacted with the world!!!)

I was told by the manufacturer that the run should be complete end of next week. however given thier track record so far I wouldn't be suprised if it took 2-3 weeks longer than that. I'm just happy that we are making progress. What originally started out as an idea in my head for a better way of making laser pointers has now become a reality and it wouldn't be possible without you!!

Great news Kenom! I'm pretty sure these barrels are going to be here to stay. As long as it is worth it for you to keep it going. Thanks for all your hard work. Good knowing you too! Even if it is via the internet...

They look really good to me. I still have two BR's crying at me to harvest them...lol. One of them is definitely going into my barrel.

now thats more like it Kenom!! YEA! these look A LOT better than the prototype...

for some reason I stopped getting e-mails of replies to this topic AGAIN!!! I hate to be un informed....

*Update* I jsut read the few pages I missed, and man, Kenom I'd kill myself if I had to pay 800 dollars for a chunk of cylindar shaped aluminum... (taking note that you said it did not even fit any of your diodes)

but your product... Man, that thing is gorgeous... Iam so glad I got into this last minute.... (I sold a tarfet gift card to have money for this, who needs target anyways).

Im confused though... It would be cool ot have a bluray in this, but I dont want to waste all that heatsinking... I cant do an open can either, because the included driver cant go to places like 420-500mA, where the open can is best with a huge heatsink.... please help,

Lets hope so.  I honestly don't know for sure if this will complete before christmas.  The manufacturing company gave me a month ETA.  so we should see these by the end of the month.

Now I still am shy on a few payments from a few folks and I've got a few payments on google checkout taht I've no clue who they are from.  Had I realized how much work this was gonna be trying to keep track of all these payments I might not have done this!! LOL kidding.

lolzmfao... defenitely not by the end of the month... im so glad this is finally done, I have fast shippinf too!

good thing i paid the extra few bucks for fast shipping... now to find a diode to put into this... can anyone answer my question from my previos post?

also, I did some research and found that the phazer diodes are just to expensive for my taste, so, any other suggestions?
