make sure not to have DT mark the package too low they also got all worked up because they didnt believe the ridiculously low value marked on such a big package

I have been getting PMs about how these GB prices can be so much lower than others selling DTs
Well for starters ... the other sellers AFAIK tune each set for your before shipping --this I have been told requires installing the scanset with one laser and the ILDA frame. uning can be a PITA or in some cases fairly easy.
Thus a semi complete projector or osilliscope are needed. My pj is not complete yet and I have never tuned a scanset so this is something each buyer must deal with. I WILL however ask DT to ship only tuned units proven to be in perfect working order.


My estimate of $100DHLExpress shipping may be unrealistic, The box may be too big and heavy and require breaking the order into several smaller lighter boxes.

HOWEVER even with all the above I feel that this one-time only GB will get us high quality Scansets at very attractive prices...

I am working on this for the best benefit of all.

I highly recommend you asking DT to use DHL Express for your shipping. Also if this GB is handled like this it would allow anyone to take advantage of this deal, not just CONUS and Canadian buyers.

IN any event I ask you to get your end ready- there may not be time for any waiting for you to find the funds. And I do not see my doing a second DT GB...

From my reading of older posts DT has recently improved these scansets and the tuning of them at the factory has improved vastly. There is a very good manual written by a PL member and found there.

Do DT's use a torsion bar? or do they flop around loosely like PT's do?
I prefer galvo's that can be initially setup to e zero'd on the screen with no power or signal
like what you get with General Scanning GS120PD's, I think it is safer also.

Do you have any idea what feedback is used for the position detection on these? Capacitive, Optical, Hall etc?

not sure what the current pricing is these days but I paid $700 for One G120pd and $350 to GS for the repair/rebuild on one, things certainly have gotten a LOT cheaper!!

2 things.....

All scanners from DT are factory tuned. I just received 2 DT40 Pro's direct from china and they were perfectly tuned...


...and there is no difference Between DT40 Pro and DT40......They only make "pro" there is no "regular" DT40

ahhh thanks Brooks-- I had not heard back on the 'Pro' thing yet but was thinking that was how it was.

I have yet to tune or even use my first scanset, and although this is something I need to learn, I do hope mine will be ready to use with little of no tuning to be done.

KGB ...do you recall the shipping cost for two sets? and was it DHL Express?
How long did you have to wait on them. What method of payment did DT require?

I got them just like you are getting them....a friend in china picked mine up, so I didn't actually pay DT. I got mine through goldenstarlighting...paid with western union.... DHL is amazingly fast usually, under 3 days from them printing the shipping label to it being on my front door. I cant specifically quote what shipping could be for just the scanners cause I normally get an entire flightcase of shit delivered...not just the scanners...

RE: Tuning.... They will come tuned just fine...the only reason I have ever tuned any of my scanners was to change the DT40 wides to DT30 wides.....since most frames are written for 30k and FB3 wont even go to 40k there is no reason to have 40k (except graphics with something other than a FB3) Since I tuned the scanners down they now can scan WIDER than they could at 40k...so now I have a 30K set that scans wider than a factory dt40wide can...

and I do love my DHL-
they always come thru and I get two phone calls once my stuff is 'out for delivery' One from the DHL girl at the office and another from my delivery person. He even provided me w/ a bunch of stick-up form so I can sign and add my tracking # and find my box safe inside my front porch.

It amazes me that from China to Texas can happen so darn fast well worth the extra costs... my boxes have NEVER been opened...

Well I have some news.


The GB for DT scansets can happen but .... the shipping will cost $260 split evenly 10 ways. High but afaik thats the very best and safest with the least possible likelyhood of snags(customes-fees-duties etc etc)

I should see the DHL guy at my door ~72 hrs after DT/Gray hands the box over to them. The shipping from me to you will be exactly what it will cost me to re-ship them. The cost for the Bank transfer(wont let us do PP sry) is $15(buckfiddy apiece)
DT assures me that one big box will be OKAY.

DT only wants to send 5 total replacement mirrors and I have replied that no less than one set of mirrors per scanset is acceptable. I want two sets of replacment mirrors

DT warrantees the scanners for 2 full years and promises that we will NOT need to tune them. I have heard from several who made recent buys from DT that is indeed the case.. well tuned upon delivery.:wave:


I am also asking for a better GB price on these Scansets as I have heard of SOME getting better deals.

I have sent several bank transfers before to Gray at JETLASERS and he has agreed to be our middlman, use the JETL bank, AND at NO charge and as a favor to both the forum and me.

That being said I cannot disagree that perhaps I am not the perfect person to be doing this GB but I have the ball and am running with it.

My goal is to end up with a nice set of scanners for my soon to be completed RGB pj AND at the same rime provide sets for other LPF members at a good price, lower shipping and a safe and fee-free delivery.

I hope you get a better GB price. In the last GB which kiyoukan made, we didn't get a very good one. I think if you keep asking they might knock something more off. I mean, they don't get ~17 orders every day. That's the reason people go GB anyway.

Those who know me have had no issues sending me a USPS MO ~$1.95 .

In some cases PP is required to report transactions to the IRS.. maybe you can tell me how I am to prove that this GB was not profit a making biz.... ever been audited?

Me niether and dont care to. I could lose my SSI as I am partialy disabled.

I have never given anyone reason to not trust me. Six GBs for JETL with many sending me MOs. No neg feedback--ever.

I got a PM from a member saying that PTs and DTs are the same scansets. It is quite possible that some of the parts are fabbed at the same place but I have it on good authority that the amps are NOT he same and the DTs are much better, more reliable, and they do come w/ a yr. warranty is double that of PT.

Only a few more serious buyers are needed to go fwd with this. I only want to do 10 sets.

The equal share for dhl -china to Texas is 26$ USD each set.
I hope we can send in the money and order close to the first of the month or so. I will not be doing another scanset GB. I just needed to do this one for my projector.

welly well well- we have ten on the list but my experienes in GBs tells me that more may be needed to place a final order for ten or more scansets.
Some just have trouble with the money.

We will hold off for the next step til Dec1- I will need your scanset price plus 26.00(dhl express) each before I can transfer the funds. The re-shipping cost can wait until our box arrives. and I post some pics.
Each will get our tracking number in a PM.

USPS confirmed signed delivery is not exactly like tracking its either on the way or delivered which you will know as you signed for the box- they will take a signed note with track# and your consent to leave- My dhl guy put box in my car and locks the door. He also calls me when he heads out.

As I have said all I can do is give each set a visual inspection- pack well and send on to you (you will need to sign for delivery)

I will post pics of the box being opened and of the inspection-- At that time should you feel the need to,

I will refund your scanset price. USPS Money Order- cost ~1.95. safe and easy for you to cash at any USPS office. I will offer to those on the list but not able to pay up first then if not gone...I will just put that scanset up FS on the forums.. they always go very fast. Do a search-- gone in 48 hrs or less. I bought 18K unknowns and 20K PTs both from guys wanting to get $$ up for DTs. They will go into my satilite pjs.



The re-shipping payment should be PPal as 'payment owed for services/personal[which it is]) this way once PP gives notice... your scanset goes out and in CONUS you have it in 3 or so days- insurance is highly recommended for loss- I will pack very well- double box- youn pay same as I will pay- cost is on the box lable from USPS. IIRC insurance is in $100 increments. You choose the amt.

ALSO sorry to be a PITA but in order to print your shipping lables with your confirmed PP mailing address and pay for all from my PC with my PP---each will need to buy (pay as goods) something from me. It will be in your box- its will cost you 1.50$. This way nobody need send me thier addy and I dont have to make the labels for your box. My gmail ppal is snapplz.

I will send Jian at DT a list of the scansets/serial numbers/buyers name and date of delivery,- your scanset is warranteed for two years by DT(not me) from day of delivery. Three years ago the DTs were sometimes having heat issues with the amps- were at times-- noisy -- and cost more than they do today AFAIK ...all this was fixed on the present day versions. Adam at PL (in a post 2008) asked Jian about these issues with 30K or 40K he owned- Jian upgraded Adam to 40K Pro wides. Jian allowed Adam to keep the old ones and gave him a big discount on the 40Kpro wides IIRC they were >$450 then & he sent them to Adam for $300.
