I don't mind the questions, I can certainly understand the hesitation in supplying something this powerful to people with no experience. But since you asked, I do have a good bit of experience with lasers. I got my first laser which was a green 5mw from thinkgeek when they first came down to about $200. At the time I was working in the CD industry where we had several laser and infrared burning and inspection systems. I have built several diode based lasers(1x Blu-ray,2x red 300mW and 1W, and a 1W IR laser. I am also well on my way to completing a degree in engineering in which several of my course modules include lasers and diode operation. Aside from that, as morgan mentioned I work with automated welding equipment so eye safety is a primary concern.

However there is still a lot for me to learn, I have especially 'enjoyed' trying to figure out all of the acronyms and codes used for various parts etc.

I hope not and you are just buying them to keep till you know just what it is you are doing ;) you should ask Glenn if he has any PHR's to start with, they are much cheeper anyway incase you blow it up ;) That is the diode I and many other people here started with :beer:

Do your Aixiz 450 lenses have threads all along the body of the lens?

I have two kinds of Axixz glass lens ava. the more efficient one has threads approx half way up, the lesser efficient ones are threaded all the way, and are really best for red laser, but do work. -Glenn

scopeguy20, not sure how many diodes have been claimed in round 3. There are 2 remaining counting the numbers on the front page. However there only seems to be one going by the forum posts.

Also, people thinking about this should jump in, I believe these projectors are actually being discontinued! :O

Glenn, I'm curious, where are you intending to buy the projectors from? They have been discontinued now apparently, so it may be a little tricky :(
