Re: GB: 2$ copper modules ALL SIZES

i agree that that is the right way to do it AnthoT.

Glad you agree :D lol because that's what's going to happen.

The way these are priced seems kina strange from the stand point of the person makinig them
When they say price break at 1000, is there a chance they mean

The first 1000 are 2 each
then 1000-3500 are 1.5 each?

So 1100 would cost
2000 + 150?

I hope not, but it would make sense...

Yes they have very odd pricing. I've asked them many many times to confirm and I've gotten the same answer many times. I've been looking into this way before I started the GB. The pricing has been confirmed multiple times. What I've posted is confirmed

Well if the pricing were to be lowered to .57 I would take 200 modules. I am fairly certain everyone who already put down a number would also quadruple their order. Shouldn't be hard to reach that number to get that price.

Isn't it a bit weird that 1/2 inch copper stock is about $1 per inch, and you could probably fit a bit over two modules per inch. How would it be possible to get $0.57 per module pricing in any qty?

I have no idea it's the manufacturer. I can send you the quote from them as proof if you'd like via PM.

My bet is that they get the copper stock slightly cheaper than we do, and in bulk. also - all of the spare copper from cutting out the threads, etc. I bet is melted down or something and used.

I can 90% guarantee that is what they do. But I don't mind copper is copper :D if it's less expensive then It is available to us then that's no problem. They are a huge CNC manufacturer that likely buys this in massive bulk. I know the pricing seems to good to be true but it's true :)

yea if they went down in price i would increase my order by 4x then i would never need to buy diode holders again...
okay who the hell am i kidding maybe 1 or 2 years.
But still i need these so badly for by builds in projectors
Copper diode holder plus aluminum heat spreader what better combination for projectors!

Would you be able to ask the company for a sample before you make your order?

It would be a disaster if you dish out a few grand and end up with modules that don't have the correct tolerances.

That ads alot to the cost, generally speaking with this kind of work alot of the cost is in setup. sometimes the min setup cost is around 350 to 500$
So a "test" order is not a very good option.
So if they setup to run 5 is the same price to run 250.
Because once the machine starts running it should be able to turn out of these things every few seconds.
So to set it up to only make a few to test is a bit of a money sink.

Very true.

When I did the MOD9s, and the MO38s, it was basically the same price to order 1 module, as a whole batch of them.

That's one thing I was worried about. From what he has said they seem to have good tolerances though.

Still, Im only willing to put about $20 into this for the first time. If all turns out well I'll probably make a bigger order next time.
