Thanks for putting this GB together Anthot. And thanks DTR for jumping in and taking half the load for Anthot and making it so much easier for us Americans.

Here's the latest news

Good day,

I worked on your trace for the shipment awb **************. I sent an email to
Memphis asking them to make sure your shipment will move tonight.
If I get any update during the day I will make sure to email you with the
information.
I apologize for any inconvenient.
* *

Linda

I can only hope it leaves Memphis tonight.... If it does those in Canada can still have theirs by the end of the week, but I'm hoping it does......

I just wanted to make a comment about this GB. I think it is really very cool that everyone seems to be handling everything so well. I know that Jordan and AnthoT have put a TON of work into this and have been busting their humps every step of the way to overcome any setbacks and get these modules into our hands.

Personally, I think AnthoT is taking too much of the stress on himself. Shipping speed is not important on a group buy in my opinion. When we are getting a product that costs $10 each normally for under $2, THAT is the important part of this GB.

I do know that shipping speed is an issue for some people if they are in a bind, but you can always order $10 ones from Aixiz or Survival (I think) if you are in a rush. EDIT: That is for 5.6mm diodes, I don't know if they have 3.8mm or 9mm. Aixiz might though, I haven't checked lately. I'll look and post links...

I know JakeGT, you mentioned something about needing some sooner. What do you need right away? I can drop a few of mine to you when they get here if that will help. If there is someone who is REALLY in a bind over not getting a 3.8mm or 9mm module, PM me and I will see what I can do - I certainly don't want anyone upset with AnthoT or DTR over stuff that is completely beyond their control right now.

AnthoT, I know you are stressing over the package in Memphis, but don't. It will get there when it gets there and everything will be fine. I'm not sure what the hold up is, but if you are stressing over delivery speed I don't think that you should. Group Buys aren't about speed. They are about saving money. We bought in bulk from a Chinese company and it would be unrealistic to expect it to go flawlessly every step of the way.

In my opinion, anyone can do a group buy that goes well. What is impressive to me is how hard you and Jordan have worked to stay on top of this one when it hasn't gone perfect.

So please, if there is anyone who is in dire straits right now, shoot me a PM and I will try to help if I can. I can't help with non-USA because of shipping, but if I can put a couple of modules in a padded envelope and mail it for a couple of $ for someone who is up a creek right now, and that will take some of the pressure off of AnthoT or DTR then PM me... I may not be able to help everyone out but if you really need it then I will try.

ALSO, if you are in Canada you might try hitting up RHD if you need 3.8mm modules. I know I bought a few Aluminum 3.8's from him not long ago and he might have more for anyone who is up against a wall with a 3.8 mm build right now.

If there is anyone else who can help out, that would be great too. It is really easy to sit back and complain, but getting these at over 80% off is a steal and worth some hiccups along the way. People like DTR and AnthoT make this hobby affordable and easier for all the rest of us and I think it is times like this when stepping up and offering a helping hand can really make a difference!

Well said. Kudos to AnthoT and Jordan for handling the situation well. No need to get stressed in a groupbuy. We know what could happened when we join the groupbuy.
I may add if someone is really in dire need of 3.8mm and 9mm module I can help in Europe. I have still some left from RHD gb.

Wow...... That meant a lot :thanks: it really does :) and I truly apreciate the support from you guys :)

I'm still going to try and get the package out of memphis as soon as I can though ;) I just can't sit and watch it sit there, I have to be on top of it :)

DTR's helped in many ways, without him it would have been just that much more stressful and I really apreciate it

Also tseele your support through this whole GB has been amazing and very encouraging :D :thanks:

I was in no way tryin to sound impatient or anything, simply offering a solution that might help, if the people with big orders or 9mm and 3.8's couldn't get all theirs filled, we could maybe at least send the smaller complete orders out so at least some people could get theirs. Once again I wasnt trying to sound upset or impatient with either dtr or anthoT they are doing great and obviously everything they can.

But I do have my first single mode osram and a new 9mm 445 waiting for good houses ;)

But thanks for the offer tsteele, I've got more lasers to build in the mean time and can wait!

I didn't think that at all. I was just offering if you were in a bind and needed to get a laser to a buyer or something like that. If you PM me your addy I will drop you a 3.8 and 9mm in the mail when mine arrive. It is no problem.

Also JakeGT, yours is being processed by DTR so you can likely get them earlier :)

Also I have a FedEx question? I spoke with someone and she said the package was "marked wrong" like the weight was not accurate and that's why it's taking so long??? Was that person BS'ing me or do you guys really weigh packages before sending them off.
Thanks again

I just had a 45 minute conversation with another FedEx person, this time a manager as well, this is what I am told this time,
The package had to clear US customs, which it did early this morning, and this person left the Memphis manager a note saying to get the package out tonight, she said I can only hope it does indeed, she also said she sees no reason it shouldn't leave, so of it leaves the US tonight at 2 AM then it can be delivered tomorow assuming no Canadian customs delay... So I can only hope for now and I'll let everyone know tomorow morning wether it arrived in Canada or not :)

Why in the world would a package destined for Canada need to clear US customs? Is this just some FedEx smokescreen to cover a SNAFU?

I asked the same thing to them, they said since it landed in the US they have the right to inspect it, and guess who got lucky and got their package picked.... :(

Oh well now it just has to leave the US & then clear canadian customs, I'm hoping it clears canadian customs in like 1 minute so they could be here tomorow :)

I had a hassle with FedEx on some flashlight hosts. They were a PITA for a while, but I finally got a supervisor who was willing to use my jpgs and listen to what I was actually telling them and got it shipped on to me.

They sent me a bill for $20 to cover the customs and some ridiculous fee for collecting it - something like $5 customs, $15 Fed Ex collecting.

I haven't paid it yet. I actually tried but I couldn't find a way to pay it online and I sent e-mails and no one could help because it was some other division of Fed Ex. I haven't bothered to actually write a check and mail it yet. If they want it they can send another bill, and I'll do it. It was like dealing with the dark ages. Definitely not your regular Fed Ex.

The good thing was once they cleared it, they shipped it FAST like they realized they had screwed up and were trying to make it right.

So my long-winded point is maybe they will expedite things now...

You should've seen how fast the first package to DTR was!!! 2 days from china & it was a weekend  it never stopped moving!!! Complete opposite of this one though :( hopefully no fee though as it was checked by customs in the US

Ordering from Digikey or Mouser... in the afternoon, and getting it less than 20h later, at 11am the following morning, intl (USA to Canada)... that's as far as FedEx has surprised me with speedy deliveries. Customs is what kills their transit times unless they already have customs broker assigned to whoever you're buying from.

As for paying with credit cards, my first statement said nothing about it. Second statement which told me I was 'late' for my 20$ duties and taxes payment had information and a phone number with which I could pay by CC instead of writing them a cheque (something I haven't done in 5 years at least).

Yea when I order from digikey it takes 1-2 days usually :p oh well I'll likely pay a customs fee but I jus really want these to show up! :)
