I wonder if this Vet still frequents the forum. You would think thr tester would volunteer his name to take the heat off ARG?

Hi Everyone, Seen as you asked I decided to login to LPF to clear this situation up a bit. I very rarely get chance to login to forums so did not realize the situation had escalated so pardon me for being busy.

My Name is Andy, I am the owner of S.C. Laser Shows S.R.L. based in Romania; our company is the leading supplier of Laser shows in a large region of Europe. Some of my work over the years has included the manipulation of laser diode beams, the discovery of 2mm fl lenses for Mitsubishi diodes and beam correction of an 8W 638nm diode bar. I have 60 Laser projectors, around 20 + pangolin boards and 16 smoke machines. I employ 12 full time staff in Romania and another 16 in different global locations. I had my first laser 28 years ago and passionate about lasers. I have a few ILDA awards and some none Laser related awards for business development. I used to be a regular participant of PL until it became more of a shopping mall than development site.

So that is about me, now a little history about this diode:

The diode took a very long time to arrive at ARG from its supplier.
During this period I volunteered to do the tests for him and supply the results; back then I had the time to do the optical tests but by the time the diode arrived in my hand; my situation ie free time was changing, me and ARG decided to wait a little time to see if I manage to free up some time but I just got more and more busy, we agree eventually I would send him the diode back to allow somebody else to do it. I asked my assistant to go and post the packet which I had already prepared and the diode was shipped but sadly without tracking.

At the moment we do not know if the diode is missing or just on a slow boat, it took a very long time to arrive from ARG to me and the time so far if I remember is only similar. We can but wait. I cannot without checking emails remember how long ago the diode was shipped but ARG also should know this approx period.

What I suggest is those firing insults at ARG, cool it and politely wait, yes I know everyone has waited but at the moment we have no other choice.

Now I do not for some reason get notifications from LPF about new posts, so bare with me to check here now and then to read updates. Or if you wish you can contact me directly using my email or by phone listed at LASER SHOW

2 Words. 7 Months.

This. So much of this. 7 months, man.... multitudes of other people have tested this diode since this GB began. I would have been better off saving my momey, I suppose.

Lets just hope the diode still exists out there, because either way, a 1W 520 diode isnt something to be tossed in the trash.

Why did you want to be anonymous in the first place?

There was drama over on PL regarding the results of the red mitsubishi diode optical test. He asked me to be an anonymous participant so that there would be no problems with that. I didn't see any harm in it so I agreed.

I understand it was a small packet but I would have assumed that a near $1000 piece of electronics would warrant a stern reminder to your assistance to get tracking and insurance.

When you buy an expensive piece of equipment for your business from another country do you get it shipped without tracking or insurance?

Are you going to pay for the diode if its lost and the funds cannot be recovered though insurance?

That was partly my fault. When I went to the post office to ship the diode to andy they wouldn't let me ship with EMS (tracked) so I sent it with the next best thing that didn't have tracking. That set a president and created a misunderstanding.

I do not expect andy to replace the diode, nor should anyone else in my opinion. It was always my understanding that if in the event the diode died from the tests (over current, COD ect.) that it would be the loss of the group and there would be no giveaway at the end and the diode would be de-canned for die pictures. I certainly wouldn't have signed up for this if it was expected of me to replace the diode in such an event.

The understanding "if in the event the diode died from the tests (over current, COD ect.) that it would be the loss of the group" was clearly stated, that is true. Albeit the "loss" of the diode under testing is different from it being at present "lost" in shipping without tracking and especially with it being uninsured. In group buys there is an inherent expectation the GB organizer to very nearly treat others money as if their own and to that end the expectation for the GB organizer to prudently avoid unnecessary risks. At the very least it could have been explained the risk of shipping to this particular tester and have allowed the group the opportunity to decide if it was worth the risk, where I am fairly certain
those which did contribute their money "wouldn't have signed up for this" either. It was the group contributors that "signed up" to your "volunteering" to organize the group by which they agreed to the terms you established

For everyone's benefit and good will I do hope the diode will arrive.

Well stated MM !!! Wow.....Wow.....Pass the Popcorn PAAAA ....... LEZE !!!!!!!!
EPIC....Just E P I C !!! With all the appropriate " Weasel Words " in some previous posts....NOT MM's !!!

In the words of the famous Doctor Who....

"There's a good chance that if we can reverse the polarity on the lithium crystal then the magnetic vortex will suck the Daleks into a different time-space continuum"......HAHAHAHA....Perhaps....our beloved 1W 520 has also been SUCKED away !!!! Sorry for the infusion of humor....but....that is how I deal with situations....that have NO HUMOR !!! AH....The Comedy....of a Tragedy !!!

I personally do not think we should be mad .. I know that we agreed on a giveaway .. But .. ARG just wanted to help and get us more useful info in more testings. At the end I am happy .. I think it was worth the money :)

I am willing to give up on my chances to get the diode.

Thank You ARG

I am not mad about the possible loss of this diode or any loss of money, rather I am disappointed, upset and bothered when someone previously so well respected fails a test of integrity, as diodes and things are soon forgotten, but twisting words, making excuses and failing to own what is of your making will not soon dim from our collective memories.

I understand you.

The management was a not so good. He should have told us who is the tester from the start. And he should have been more clear about everything.

In anyway .. I just think we should not think about it. If he will get the diode he will update us. If not .. We lost it and can not do anything about it.

Next time .. I think murder tests are better idea.

:)
