Hey Dennis - the beam expanders will be available for purchase next week and now we got the sample already but there is some tolerance that needs be minimized in the parts -probably available in both silver and matte black finish.

Dozens of Ti B lasers are available in stock. Thanks.

Hello Gray, I may have missed this in an earlier post, but does the new beam expander thread on to the PL-E Pro's where the lens cap attaches?

Ahh, ok nice nice :)

What else comes with it, just the laser ?

Does it use 2× 26650 and able to do 2× 18650 ?

The spare PL-E Pro barrel can also be used as the extension for 2 x 18650/26650s though the threads are not perfect fit.

The trick is to add around 3 or 4 small magnets to make both batts connect electronically. I should have sent SixTee9 some small magnets. ;)

It will come with a spare barrel, the case reducer for 18650/16340 to 26650, a piece of diffraction grating, a mousetail switch probably.

Thanks for your patience! !

Last Q first-- @Jeff

from it appearnace it (sadly) looks like these BEs will us the same method of attachment as all the previous with one exception being the now (also sadly) no longer being made PL-D Pro- it had the best method-threaded- no artifacts fromk the lens cavity- no 'ring/ halo' and perfect fit/alignment every time.-- I was not crazy about the scratched the screws made on the BE- that was not a problem for the Pro PL-D-

about the other Qs- most already now know that ..
1) only the 445 version can work with more than 8 vdc- be it two 16340s or two 18650s or 26650s- these batts when fully charged just combine to too much power for all but the 445.

Also due to issues the pin needed for the tailcap hole is now disabled - the lasers work with OR without that pin.

So forget magnet spacers- I have been told that there may be a problem running power thru a magnet and also the possible danger of a short between the host and the battery is not good. So use these pros with only ONE tube and one 3.7 vdc li-ion ONLY- ignore the hole in the tailcap for now.

AFAIK the output is not effected but less or smaller battteries

and just the run time before needing a charge is a true factor. I got the same output with two DG 16340s as a pair of kingkongs..

also the laser with just one batt tube is already VERY long at 11 inches and 14 inches looks crazy long and will never fit in your pocket.. lol

BUMPDATE

Ok

using ctrl and '+' to enlarge it does now appear that I can see threads on that BE- maybe it 'looks' bigger than it is-

very well cold be that the BE screws into the same plce where the lens cap threads- thaty would be SWEET!! easy and perfect every time.

I will have a sample here soon and do a full review- do not ec=xcept these to be anywhere a cheap as we saw the closeouts on the old BE those prices were LESS than 50% of list prices.

If you forced me to make a guess-
(dang where did I put my crystal balll??)
ok-
10X 185$
5X 150$
3X 120$

AND by looking at the pic there will ONLY work wit Pro Pl-es that have the threaded hole- around the apeture. Not the PL-E old version- the Pl-Cs or Pl-Ds nor the the TI-Bs-
So those buying the remaining old new stock do NOT count of using the new BEs until we know for sure.

IIRC--
Smeerworst found that testing across the battery & host with the tailcap removed showed an issue with that pin- Any Pro owners
with same problem will very likely get a replacement tail cap with issue fixed or the tail cap hole for that pin disabled. Nice extra safety feature but not if it makes the laser perfrom badly..

sorry for any inconvienence caused by this-- it is being worked on.
If new caps are offered you will NOT need to mail the old one back.
it very likely that for CONUS owners all the fixed caps will come in one box to me & i will reship them to you--

@ wanna- that may be the problem, you are seeing ..

also one non forum member just got his 1,200 mW 445 Pro and is experienceing a problem- may be same thing-- we are very sorry about this ..

If no fix can be found I plan to get out of lasers change my name to Stan and move to Kabul and buy a fruit biz--
I will call it 'Stan's Afganistan Banana Stand' try saying that three times fast LOL.

Thanks for the new B.E. info., Hak.
I'm hoping that the new B.E.'s will thread in to the new PL-E Pro's! :)
It's too bad they won't fit the older PL-E's, but with the mods I made to my "old style" adapter rings,
the old B.E.'s work real well!

Yes-- your solution was a great idea-

I am sure there will be a way figured out to attach the new BEs to many lasers..

I guess there will be some sticker shock-

so compare the new ones with those prices we all paid when the last versions were first sold--
-NOT with the close-out priced ones-

BTW those are all gone afaik. Same deal with lasers- GB /close out/ special pricing should never be used as a reason to complain about higher prices at different times. Sales are,,, sales.. NOT regular prices. We all know of items that almost NOBODY ever buys at SMRP-- like cars= the so-called sales on new cars is a lot of smoke and mirrors. The SMRP is a joke and AFAIK ONLY used when you win a car on 'The Price is Right' and that is for tax purposes. Many who win cars cannot afford all the taxes and other fees the winners must pay- City of NY- sales tax. State of NY more taxes- IRS takes BIG bite- -- so 'whats behind the curtain' is not always a good thing..

Hey hak, have you seen my PM? I would like to ship my 473 to you and get you to look at it. For the first 4 or 5 minutes of on time I get less than a mw of 473. All I get is a lot of IR. At around 10 minutes of on time it reaches 30mW....but I do not know how much is IR...

Just want to update everyone who heard about my 473 issue. I returned my 473 to Hakzaw1 at the request of Gray on 7/16/13, and today I received my replacement unit. From my conversations with Hakzaw1, it appears that Jetlasers immediately put forth the best possible effort to get me a replacement unit made that was up to snuff and got it here in what many might consider to be a record time.

I shipped it back: 7/16
I received the replacement: 7/24
Output of replacement: Starts at 50+mW, rises to 100+mW over time. From cold start at 23 degrees Celsius.

That is 8 days!!! Many companies take longer than that to get it to your door AFTER they manufacture it. Many kudos to Jetlasers and to Gray for excellent customer service as always. I had every confidence that the issue would be resolved and they went above and beyond. An updated review to come with pictures and details.

Thanks,
Isaac

EDIT: Also, any news on the Beam Expanders? Would they be useful for the 473's? They have such good divergence already...but who knows. Seems like a good use of the threaded cap!
