looking a the pin in the tailcap I see that it is just a plug similar to one for a non stereo headphone. Could you just find a pin like that , shorten and short it , plug it into the tailcap hole and leave it there, this would effectively defeat the dongle pin without much work. I will try that on the one I have here. I may make a few and add them to the GB lasers so they will have the option with out havng to do much and still be able to use the pin that comes with the laser, if they should choose to.

I plan to keep one of these in my console of my car and maybe in a holster style case on my belt to be used for protection/self defence.

If you loop the tail cap pin wire thru your finger=== no one would be able to take the laser from you and use it on you. Same if you dropped it, nobody could pick it up and turn it on you. I dont like the idea of carrying a handgun. If someone points thier gun at you what do you do then. Shoot first or get shot first or get shot second??- none of these are a good thing. With high power green laser you could keep the bad guys away but not do much permanent harm.

Darn, I was thinking along those lines too. I wrote to Gray and asked if I could get a unit in the group buy both with a dongle tailcap and also a disabled dongle tailcap (for extra money, of course.) His response sounded like it might complicate things and might hold up the group buy so I elected to go with the non-dongle option to keep things simple.

I was thinking like you, Len, that, if it was a standard 3.5mm plug, it might be possible to short a plug and carry it with an emergency "yank" strap sort of like dropping a magazine in a pistol that has a mag safety if you don't want the gun turned on you.

Well, I may see if I can buy a dongle cap from Jetlasers later if it's too late to go for both style caps at this time.

Sorry i might have confused you in the PM or email.
I agree with Hak and you on the idea of shortening the headphone Pin. We might not have much spare tailcaps but we would like to send you one or two spare doogles pins though their function in your GB PL-C is disabled. You still have the time to regret now. :yh:

Thanks for your message, Gray. If by having "time to regret", you mean it's not too late to get the regular tailcap instead of the disabled tailcap, I'd like to go for that, however I don't want to delay this GB by even a day for anyone else. If the disabled tailcap is already prepared, that's OK. Since the order is closed I'll go with whatever you've already got made at this point.

I really do appreciate all the work you and Hak have put into this group buy and look forward to getting my PL-C like everyone else in the buy.

It still amazes me that some(very few thankfully) are having issues with ALL China laser makers, this GB and/or me.

Gray has done everything he possibly can to make us all happy and I hope after everyone get thier lasers from GB#1 and the reviews are up we can move on.

I also hope the bosses at JETLASERS appreciate all of Gray's hard work, often done at hours way past normal work time and during a Holiday as well.

IIRC he has a long commute to work too.

Hmm... What's the polarity warning meant for? I know that if Jetlasers stuff is based at all on CNI designs (improved upon, yes?) the polarity is the opposite of what it's saying... (+ towards the endcap, not towards the driver/diode. Gray, if this is incorrect, -- correct me!)

ALWAYS check and double-check the polarity for every individual laser you're putting a 18650 in. There's so much current in those batteries -- you usually don't get a second chance to try it the other way.

I usually pause and double check to make sure I know which way it's going in, every time I put an 18650 in.

Direction is not the same for all lasers.

Helpful Hak Hint

Take a fine point black sharpie and mark + or - on the inside of the battery tube- the tail cap and anywhere else that will help you to remember which way it goes.

Don't worry, Aryntha. You're right. for most 18650 hosts, the + are set towards the tailcap, not towards the driver/diode. The same case with CNI portables. Sanyo 18650 battery is recommended.

We would not worry about this if the circuit of reverse battery protection was applied to the PL-C.

Apr20vturbo, one or two 18650 batteries are okay. The goggles would be shipped with the lasers or separately.:yh:

Though a little delay becomes inevitable due to the long holiday that fortunately ends tomorrow.

no problem for upgrade to 250mw. You can PM HaK for this coz it's not late for the revision of any order info. But I would have the list printed tomorrow and submit to our department.

Now it's time to pray to the overspec gods. IF there are such a thing. If so, they probably can't see.

Just a reminder to *not* alter the locks on this one, too, Don't want that getting lost in the shuffle with the order change!
(Want to keep the locks as-is... I lose keys... A lot... I couldn't use my PGL-III-A 473 for two weeks. c_c )

Done Deal my friend-- the package got delayed due to the China Holiday and the requests for alterations. So you are down for an upgrade to 250mW- One who has this meters it at 325mW-- that'll put yer other eye out fo sure!!

I am making a 'pin' for everybody that you can stick in the tail cap and leave it there to eliminate(temporarily) the defeat- so this will make it a little more 'user friendly' but not as safe. With the key removable in 'on' position and this pin in place(& the shutter open) it would be possible for the laser to be turned on accidentily which could be dangerous and if left on more than the recommended max of 3- 5 min. cause failure. So use this with care.

The funds are transfered and the first package with our stands and eyeware should be on the way asap--I will post the tracking number asap.

The big box will follow in ? days and take 8 or less days to get to me.

They will then go out to all(preceeded by a photo with meter reading sent to your PP addy) and be in your sweaty litttle hands in about 72 hrs.

dont forget that the 18650 goes with the POS _+ end towards the LD.

Please post a review asap. It would be nice too if we all sent a TY to Gray--he did a lot of work on this during a National China Holiday.

Please make a note that on Sunday at ten minutes and ten seconds after Ten AM it wil be-- 10:10:10 10/10/2010.
