Re: GB feeler - Tiny LD driver $4, 2 for $9.50 shi

sc_bond, it doesn't. Ask anyone who has put lithiums in one.

Lasecki, not bad, we looked at that chip but price and availability made it difficult, and I believe there was a maximum temperature issue too. I am working with digikey for all my parts.

Not an included barrel, but that these were designed for Kenom's laser barrels, and are included with them. So anyone buying them here is getting them for other projects.

You are in for 10? And READ TWO POSTS UP, I JUST SAID HOW TO PAY! :p

Re: GB feeler - Tiny LD driver $4, 2 for $9.50 shi

Maybe it's my eyes, but it looks like the board is marked LM385 and LMS8117A (the same parts in my schematic). But hey, I'm old and prone to optical illusions.

10 is the number (@2 for $9.50 = $47.50 is that right?).

PayPal would be perfect.
Sorry I didn't see the message above (remember my eyes? (maybe I really shouldn't play with these lasers, huh?))

Thanks,
Walt

Re: GB feeler - Tiny LD driver $4, 2 for $9.50 shi

actually, the chip changed because of those reasons and price. At the moment, I'm using the TLV1117 from Texas Instruments, at $0.33 each >100 it's fairly good. And we are using the LM385.

And it's $4 each plus $1.50 P/H so I'm calling that $41.50, but I may have to make it $42 because the postage quote wasn't figured on that kind of quantity.

Makes cents.

One last question (and I didn't see the answer in the 7 pages).
When, more or less, might these puppies be ready to ship?

Re: GB feeler - Tiny LD driver $4, 2 for $9.50 shi

When I get the parts for the prototype, which should be within a week, I will assemble and test that. Assuming all is well (which it had F**king better be :p ) I will then ask for money for all of these orders. Once all that is collected, I can order the parts. I am assuming ~2 weeks for them to arrive. Then I assemble all these, under a week. Then, I post them all to my US hub, who sends them off to you! That makes about 6 weeks till they are at the US hub to ship.

man, that sounds like a much longer time than it had before  i hope kenom doesnt get angry

Re: GB feeler - Tiny LD driver $4, 2 for $9.50 shi

Hey! WHY didn't anyone tell me about this sooner!!!!!!!

I'd love to take 2 off you, but not with the $10 shipping price tag, as I'm in the UK!
Yes I've read the whole thread, and I'd love to take Yellow.Sir.Name up on the offer. (I didn't know you were UK based - where about exactly?)

How many more UK orders do we need?

At the very worst, yellow.sirname, we could go halves on the shipping costs.
I'm away now for a few days, so I'll catch up with you all then.

Dan :)

I assume this is a voltage + currant regulator with the voltage and currant being set via their respective resistor?

Re: GB feeler - Tiny LD driver $4, 2 for $9.50 shi

Not quite. It is a current regulator essentially in that once current is set it will put whatever voltage necessary into the load to achieve that current.

And unfortunately shipping to other Australians is not cheap. $10 AUD unfortunately, which makes $15 total :/ As all my costs are in USD, teh price becomes $5 AUD, and I have a hub in the US who will ship them out to me into the US.

So you still in for one for $15? You can get 5 for $26 AUD you know :p

Why is the postage so high?

Surely it can fit in a letter
