I'd be happy to use PayPal, otherwise I'm probably out... "PROBABLY" but not definitely. :) I might could take a risk for at least the cheaper red one... just so I can have a 635 and the cool stash it comes with. If PayPal is a go, I'm going to try to rack as much cash I can together to get a couple of these. :D

How much more in fees would it be for PayPal? If it's just the PayPal fee then that's ok with me.

Thanks for looking into it!

btw... you guys seeing these My Little Pony avatars? hahaha Gave me a good laugh. Good way to start my April Fool's Day! :D

mhemling, don't be hijacking my thread, now. If you want to offer a group buy, please start your own thread. :D

I agree with the views being expressed. Being on the hook for all your fees if something goes wrong is not my first choice. I have emailed him about payment. I asked for PayPal and buyer protection. We shall wait and see what the seller says. It may be a deal killer, it may not.

Look I an not hijaking your GB. I thought you were saying they didn't take paypal and I knew a company seeling the same stuff and accept PayPal. I don't feel like running a GB i was just trying to help out because I didn't want to see another gb for the rifle fall through but I'll be deleting my posts. Sorry

No problem. :) It's all good.

To be clear, if I am collecting funds for the GB, I am ONLY interested in PayPal. It protects us both.

It is the seller seeking a bank transfer that has me worried. But as LtKernelPanic has pointed out, this is not that uncommon. If we have to do a wire transfer, and I feel confident sending him the money, then so be it. It is not, however, my first choice. I have asked if the seller will take PayPal. Let's wait and see what he says. I anticipate an in increase in cost, but let's wait and see.

I take it VERY seriously collecting money from others, and being on the hook if things go wrong. I am trying to be as transparent as possible.

That's why I am not interested in running a GB I was just giving another supplier

It IS a little scary. It may be wise to limit the size of the initial GB, until the seller has proven themselves.

You should limit it ... or buy couple of lasers for a check.

If this seller will send underspec or broken units ... people will be angry.

In my opinion buy a couple of them for a quick check.

Good luck with the GB

I heard back from the seller, and he says it is company policy to pay by wire transfer, bank transfer to Bank of China, or by check. Payment would go to the company, anyway. Hmm.

So I am game if we keep the risk small, and place a smaller order. I have NOT asked about IR filtering on the DPSS lasers, yet. I'll do that when I clarify the limits of a smaller order, and how that may affect pricing.

I'm still engaged in this one.

Yeahhh, I'm out too.

I need to go to the grocery store real soon anyways... lol. Better to spend my money on food than lasers. Gotta eat!

ehhh, shipping is a killer. idk if i want to spend $80 on a 250mW 635nm or just build my own for the same price and get 300mW+ out of it. then the fact the seller is unknown and no one can verify the quality and output of their lasers. add on top of that, you'd be on the hook for all of our $$$ in the event we do get shafted......idk if i can do that or if i want to hold you liable for someone else fraud, if they shaft us.

a lot to think about

Well, I asked if he'd consider a smaller order with same pricing, using bank transfer for payment. I also asked about IR filters for the 532nm units. So we shall see.

Actually, depending on when its time to collect funds and every part of the deal is settled and figured out, I may still be in.

If you decide to go through with this, I'll probably reduce my request down to just the

635nm-500mW

If IE is interested, you can piggy back on me and pay less shipping.

Thanks, I would be interested in doing that. We can split the shipping, and I can most likely even just pick up the lasers from you. (Or you from me.)

if someone in the Tampa area wants to split shipping let me know. that would be more enticing to me than $30 shipping.
