Hey all, I have noticed a lot of interest for people DIYing Ben boosts, and have looked into the price of components when bought in bulk. I'll post the prices and all components will be sold as a "set", meaning you cant buy 50 of one component and 5 of another. The kit will only include parts for the R9 R6 board. Simply because some of us want to use the round boards too.

My goal, is to hit the 1,000 mark for all parts, and 3,000 for the 10uF Caps.

If you can find a part cheaper let me know...

LM3410: $1.56
LM3410XMF/NOPB National Semiconductor | LM3410XMFTR-ND | DigiKey

Mosfet: $0.32 + $7 reel fee?
SI3473CDV-T1-GE3 Vishay Siliconix | SI3473CDV-T1-GE3CT-ND | DigiKey

100k 0603: $0.01
RC0603FR-07100KL Yageo | 311-100KHRCT-ND | DigiKey

Inductor: $0.21
NR8040T100M Taiyo Yuden | 587-2001-2-ND | DigiKey

3x 10uF Capacitors: $0.14
C2012Y5V1C106Z TDK Corporation | 445-3458-2-ND | DigiKey

Shottky: $0.12
PMEG1020EA,115 NXP Semiconductors | 568-6497-1-ND | DigiKey

Shipping to me: $0.38

Shipping to you: $2 for full order

PP fees: 2.15 for 25

Boards: $0.10

Resistors: I'll let you all by them, because everybody needs different ones.

All prices rounded to the nearest penny

I would like orders in multiples of 10

Total price for 25 would be...
$61.5 or $2.46 each + $2 domestic shipping + $2.21 in fees = 65.71

For 50 would be...
$123 or $2.46 each + $2 domestic shipping + $4.04 in fees = $129.04

In this GB I will be making NO money, I just want cheaper parts ;)

Shipping would be about... $2 domestic (US) and I need to look into the international.

I will NOT accept payment until we are ready to order and will NOT accept paypal sent as a GIFT

I am now offering these for $5 pre assembled. All you must do is hand solder on the resistors.

Am I missing anything?

Re: Feeler: Ben Boost Components

A great deal you got there, about time we have now a $3 boost driver too.. cheers to Ben&Rhd..
You would be better off with ordering the boards yourself.. the pcb manufacturer might not be pleased with 40 different orders..
Also assemble them and sell it at a higher price because many would want in on this but they might not have the skillset or experience with assembling the smt's..

Re: Feeler: Ben Boost Components

Some good points you got there, I did send an email asking for a price break down for 1,000 boards. I don't feel like making 1,000 drivers, nor do have the money to buy them! I think this forum deserves a great deal for us DIYers, and this may convince some people to take a stab at reflowing, a fun thing to do!

Re: Feeler: Ben Boost Components

just a suggestion Y5V have very wide capacitance change with temp.
-20%/+80%

I think X5R or X7R is a preffered choice when choosing these caps. +-15%

Re: Feeler: Ben Boost Components

That is the same as linked in the original thread, no?

Re: Feeler: Ben Boost Components

Yeah they are the same, I just suggested a better option :)

Y5V and Y5U are less stable dielectrics than the X5R, X7R

Re: Feeler: Ben Boost Components

I don't know much about this. I just used similar components then linked. How much of a difference will it actually make? Maybe rhd or ben will chime in here.

Re: Feeler: Ben Boost Components

It might also be really helpful if instead of saying:
"Total price for 25 would be... $59 or $2.36 each + shipping to me, + shipping to you, + pp fees."

...you just bottom-line it instead. It's generally going to be more effective if you can actually quote a price for GB participation, and let people know what value proposition it is that they're evaluating.

If you have to pad the price a tiny bit in order to deal with uncertainty, that's ok. But as it stands, it's probably tough for people to figure out whether this makes sense for them, if there are two big variables unknown. People like bottom-lines :)

Re: Feeler: Ben Boost Components

Sounds good rhd. Can you take a quick peek at the components I listed, and let me know if they all look suitable? Thanks!

UPDATE! Looks like we can get boards at $0.10 each for 1,000! Unfortunately, if we want round boards though that will have to be bought separately.

Re: Feeler: Ben Boost Components

I will take 25x. Not much but all the littles helps. :)

Re: Feeler: Ben Boost Components

Would it be possible to buy just some components??? I'd be in for 15-25 LM3410's and a couple hundred capacitors :D

Re: Feeler: Ben Boost Components

Normally I'd say no, but since you ran such an awesome group buy, I'll add your orders in at the end assuming we hit 1000

That's awesome of you  I only say that because I have a similar driver but only some of the parts are the same so I only need those :) ill buy 1/4th of all the capacitors then
