Re: Group buy on g type lenses

Actually, it may be even more than 22% because I realize now my batts weren't fully charged when measuring with the G-2 lens. I'll get a new reading with charged batteries soon.

Re: Group buy on g type lenses

I just got finished measuring the lens I got today from Techhood, and it measures the same as the O-Like lenses that I still have. They must have switched lenses because my original lenses still have an 8% increase over the O-Like lenses. I was told that there are 50 things that can go wrong with a group buy and only a couple that can make it go right. I am sorry if my information has misled my fellow forum members. That was not my intention at all. The lenses I bought back three months ago that gave an 8% increase over the O-Like lenses were from the same supplier, and they used the same setup for the listing of these lenses. They are still just like that O-Like lenses, but are not the 30% increase over the 3 element glass lenses that I was led to believe. I don't know if anyone is still interested in this lens, as they are just the same as the O-Like lenses that we all paid $8.50 for and shipping as well. But, thanks to Photonz I learned that these are not the same as the lenses that I originally bought from Techhood. I will go to the OP and change the listing there too. If anyone who lost out on the O-Like lens buy is interested in these lenses, then we can continue with the group buy. Otherwise, it will die of its own folly. :( Paul

Re: Group buy on g type lenses

Thanks RYDorDIE278. I was hoping that people would still see the value in this group buy. But, it is totally up to everyone who already ordered lenses. But, really, THANK YOU! Paul

I am still in. Even though it's 20% increase over 3 element, beats paying 40 for a g2 lens.
Thanks for organizing this!

Thanks, everyone. I haven't heard from anyone yet who wants out of the group buy, so on it will go. If there are any other problems, just let me know and I will see what I can do about them.

Re: Group buy on g type lenses

There hasn't been any movement on the group buy in either direction for about three days now. I am starting to wonder if there is any reason to continue with it until the end of the month. We could let it go on for a few more days, and then, if everyone is agreeable, close out the GB and start to collect the money, so I can go ahead and order the lenses and see if I can get expedited shipping. That way, I can get these lenses and start shipping them out to everyone who is still on board. If anyone has thoughts on this matter, let me know, and we will take it from there. Thank you to everyone who has ordered and stuck with this group buy. Paul

Some usually wait for the last possible moment.

You said to the end of the month, I'd wait. Makes no difference to me, but you know how people are. :)

Re: Group buy on g type lenses

Thanks, icecruncher. I hadn't heard anything for three days, and just needed someone to give me a push to continue on until June 30. If anyone else wants to chime in, I will listen. But, for now it is still on until June30.

Re: Group buy on g type lenses

Sorry, hakzaw. I thought everyone knew these are meant for 405nm, 445nm, and 520nm primarily. They can also increase the power on red lasers, too. Not as much, though. the group buy is on until June 30th, so if you want in, PM me with the number you want and I will add you to the spreadsheets. ;) Paul

Re: Group buy on g type lenses

Hey There Paul, im happy either way if you close it early or keep it going, but i guess for the sake of those who have Opted in and may have not read your couple updates and also those who will miss out if closed early , we should just see it out till the end of the month

Re: Group buy on g type lenses

Yeah, RYDorDIE. That seems to be the consensus. So, it is on until the end of the day, June 30th. Then on the next day we will start collecting money and people's real names and addresses. Thanks for giving me your opinion. I do appreciate it.

Re: Group buy on g type lenses

Ok so to sum this up:

1. They are not as good as everyone thought originally, but still better than a 3 element by a significant margin.

2. they are bad for 405nm diodes

Also has anyone tested the actual lens for this group buy on a red yet?

Re: Group buy on g type lenses

i do not think they are bad for 405nm? they will definitly have a power increase over 3 element lens, i would expect similar % increase as 445nm,
