Hey Mike, what kind of output power is that yellow pointer? Is it the $325 dollar pointer that runs off of AAA's?

Yes, that's what I expect, 2-3 weeks, and I hope the blues are avg as good as last round, but I hope all realize that a 20-30 mW is a rare one indeed! Hang in there Mike! ;) -Glenn

Hey Glenn, what kind of output power are the yellow pens averaging? ($325 plus shipping right?)

Jay from what I've seen people have been getting around 8 (other threads)

I can't remember, did the vegas go something crazy like 15 or is my memory god awful?

I hope he likes it...

Dave just built one of my Key Chain CR2's with an 8X at 441mW's!

Do what you want with it Glenn. It's yours to sell or what ever, but I think if you got at least a 6X in there, you might like it for a keeper! :)

Sending today...

Glenn will send your Keychain to me, for a 6x build.. :yh:

Since i'm ordering a Keychain from you as well (in a way), i thought i might be able to persuade you to send both kits to me instead?

I already sent Glenn's yesterday, but I can send him another today. And he can send both to you if you want. I'll message Glenn...

E-mail me about the trade Igor. Will you just send two medium lenses? One for me to mount in brass, and one to keep?

Hey Jay the yellow pens may vary a lot. I can't really say they will top 2 mW by much, I have seen some only do 2-3 mW and many more do 4-9 mW but, truth is, it's a bit of a gamble if you really want >5 mW, I'm afraid.

Igor, It's good to be able to have you build the CR2 mini indeed! I'll be glad to send you the both ASAP. All your great experimenting is tops in my book!

Everybody jayrob's kits are so great,! Yeah, I know everybody says that! LOL! -Glenn

Ok... thanks for getting back to me on that Glenn.

I can't afford it anyway. (My wife doesn't even know that I got this killer blue one!) But I did some trading, so I can justify if I have to.

I guess for now, I'll have to settle for my 7 color White Fusion build if I need to see yellow... :)

.... :)

lol. I'd love a White Fusion kit, but I gots no moneys. I think I'm gonna try my hand at a nice orange color from combining green/red. I've got some extra modules laying around, and an empty GGW sled coming soon. Never tried combining beams before. We'll see how that goes. Oops I'm going off topic again.

(getting back on topic)

Jay:

I was thinking about your laser a lot yesterday, and i think it might be using a 1W pump, maybe an experiment by the CNI scientists?

I have an aquarius right here, i'll measure the current in mine!

Mine is "only" 15mW (looks awesome in blue tho), but i should at least figure out what diode it's using from the current draw.

Cheap DX lasers otherwise power their IR pump diodes with as much as 780mA, so as long as your current is not higher than that, i wouldn't worry.

It came directly from CNI right? That means no one went in to tweak the pot, but the CNI engineers themselves!

Whatever diode it uses, it must be good for that current!

It did come directly from CNI via Glenn... (Thanks Glenn!)

But it is drawing 790mA's from an Energizer e2 lithium primary CR2 battery. Also, the current draw is steady as a rock!

The laser is very stable. I am so impressed with it. It's one of my favorite lasers now. So elegant, and a really nice size.

I have been trying not to say too much, because Glenn must be feeling 'giver's remorse'

I don't know how he let it go. Really a great guy...

Edit: I tested it last night and this morning as well. It peaked at 36mW's with-in the first 20 seconds! I'm almost afraid to use it. Because it's so good, that I feel like it's too good to last...

I never took one apart, but Yobresal did, and it has a trimmed C-mount in there, so I think it is usually a 1W 808 pump diode. Just guessing! -Glenn

Don't worry Jay, I won't feel bad, I sure hope the guys who I couldn't get a 20+ mW to are not too jealous though. Guys, Jay deserves such as he supplies, really great stuff.
