I was able to get Ava to agree to sell me a 589nm module by showing her pictures of the handheld I had built using a Lasever 473nm module. She said "since you are professional, we sell you module only". Wish I had actually managed to buy it. Would have made a great handheld.

I believe it may be more along these lines they are possibly reluctant to go down that road.

@RHD- I tend to use a little more of a colorful description of my conversations with CNI here than actually occur. I could see where it might be easy to read into it that I am being pushy or even loosing my cool. The actual conversations are less emotionally charged than I would lead you to believe here. I'm really just painting a picture of my frustrations more than I am being factually accurate.

I can see where they may have a concern about selling me something that I would end up using in a way where they might be held responsible for a failure on my part. After reviewing what Wannaburnstuff said and then going back to my actual conversation with Ava I think this is precisely where they are coming from. She doesn't know, as far as I understand, I really have any association with LPF. I haven't mentioned it and I use my email signature from my Med tech R&D business in all my discourse with them. As far as she knows I am just some random Joe Blow off the street. All I have said was it was going to be used in a handheld flashlight like device which could cause some conclusions to be made I suppose.

In the interim I finally got a response back from Lasever. He appears to have the 473 module available as well. I can't remember the exact prices he quoted for me right this second but they seemed to be around what I would expect CNI to charge. It's on an email at my office which is not accessible at the moment.

Hopefully my last respinse to Ava was descriptive enough but if not I may use your approach Wannaburnstuff. It makes much more sense framed in that light. The fact is they keep perseverating on the heat sink and temp control and seem to be very concerned with that. I think if I could show them a good description of how it would be used and the plan to even use a TEC may help. I bet I have an answer around 1am when they are back at work Monday morning.

Appreciate all the insight here, have a great day!
JM

Also, "OEM" products are meant to be used in a product of your own design. Just tell them you understand they cannot guarantee the longevity or future success of the module, but that you wish to proceed anyway.

Alternately, it is possible Ava was willing to acquiesce to my request simply because I was organizing a group buy. If so you may not get anywhere. Lasever makes great modules, the one I got from them did 120mW of 473 perfection. And that is IR filtered.

Jmiller:
I know you know what you're doing.

In my head, the caution was meant as a general one. Though it was prompted by your thread, the comment wasn't truly motivated by it, and I should have taken more care with my wording.

I'm also working on getting them to budge on a few items. Though they claim to not be able to export >5mW to the US anymore...

@RHD - I've got a price on the RB you're looking for. As well as a BG, both 200mW.

Just working out the kinks, as well as the pricing for modules.

My hero :)

Is it the good price, or the bad price?

Basically, they had pretty good prices on the two color builds, and then over night I think they decided they didn't want to make them for a while, and pricing doubled. I think they may be back to reasonable pricing now, but I'm dying to find out!

What's the damage?

Just curious, are you constructing these yourself? I am assuming you're talking about combined beams. I may not understand what your message to RHD means but if it is for a combined beam module I am very interested in this. I am having Flamingpyro build me a couple of hosts that will support some additional hardware for combining two and three beams. From what I understand it is very painstaking work. If your building them and selling them PM me please.
Thanks!

He is referring to premade CNI modules. RHD has been advertising his desire for something along those lines in his sig so bloom was giving him a heads up.

CNI makes tri-output lasers. For instance, the RB lasers can do red, blue, or magenta.

Here's a video by an LPF member, not sure who it was though.
