Just got around to a quick 60sec power run using my Laserbee 3.7w meter and it looks great. My PL405 is certainly over spec reaching over 600mw and holding it rather well, thanks again offroadfreak for all your help and running yet another great GB.

Congrats!! That's awesome, man. I hope my 405 is similar.

Just an update for the benefit of the group - I've received zero items from my order. The package that was shipped containing the most expensive of the stuff in the $1000 purchase was flagged at customs for "extensive manual inspection". DHL called to tell me that when this happens, it's out of their hands and they were closing the file on this (the tracking file I opened when my order didn't show up as they had notified). The agent said it would be 30 to 60 days before they either released, returned, or seized the shipment. Offroadfreak8582 has been great about relaying info to/from laserBtB about this, but there is clearly nothing he can do other than be a messenger at this point. There is no news on the other lasers I ordered, but I know for sure the 532nm was the one pulled at customs. LaserBtB has a great reputation on the forums and so I'm hoping they do the right thing to take care of their customers... surely this can't be the first time they have dealt with this sort of thing.

All that being said, I'm super happy for all you peeps getting your awesome lasers with good performance! Congrats!

...and I can't say enough positive things about ORF's efforts to keep people informed and facilitate this group buy. I'm certain that the only reason I've not received any sort of update is just because he is waiting on the manufacturer to respond. Kudos to ORF for his efforts.

Now, let's get some laserBtB photons to Texas. :)

Cheers!

Hey peeps... just an update. My scheduled DHL delivery from laserBtB today did not happen because the package is held up in US customs for additional manual inspection. Apparently it was cleared, which triggered the delivery notice, and then flagged again into the black hole. No explanation was given or ETA for release (if ever).

Here's the latest order status for me:

PL532- 700 = 600$ (1.5kg) - received - arrived defective... switch actuation flashes a few milliseconds of green and then nothing. DOA
HL520- 50 = 150$ (1kg) - received - LPM's at 11.1mW over a 120 seconds with fresh batteries :(
PL405- 500 = 160$ (1.5kg) - received - LPM's at 512mW over a 120 seconds with fresh batteries :)
Tripod = 10$ (.3kg) - received
Pen tripod = 12$ (.3kg) - received
Diffraction caps = 5$ - received

My 16340's needed to be charged, so I haven't LPM'd anything yet, but I'll post my results here when I get a pair topped off.

Offroadfreak8582 has been doing an awesome job with moving this along... I'm really looking forward to the PL532-700! These showed today via FedEx safe and sound, so I hope it is following along shortly :)

Cheers!!

Has anyone else received grossly underspec or non-functioning lasers or was it just me? I mean, I'm sure it'll get sorted out in time, but laserBtB had such a great rep on the forum, I'm surprised that I had 2 out of 3 lasers purchased come with problems.

:(

They are great looking hosts and feel like they are well made. I'm excited to have this sorted out because, once working as expected, I feel these will be great lasers. I'm just really bummed at the moment.

Hey man,

Your two faultive lasers :

- PL532 which were held by customs
- HL520 which was resent due too confiscation

They were probably broken in shipment. Kevin tested everything before shipping.. Forst customs held your stuff and now it seems they broke it.

So far you are the only one that seems to have bad luck with this GB.

However i understand that you are bummed an i will take care of it the best i can.

Also received your pm. You must understand that even with the best quality control stuff can break in shipment. I dare to say that kevin tested these up to spec when heb shipped them.

Greetings,,

EDIT: some stupid questions about the PL532:

- have you tried bridging the tailcap?
- what batteries did you put in?

I used two Tenergy RCR123A per the instruction on the host (two 16340). They were fully charged.

Customs only had the 532, so perhaps is was broken during inspection or DHL shipment, but the 520 came via FedEx and wasn't stopped along the way. I re-LPM'd it again this morning and it is only putting out 1mW rather than the 11.1mW yesterday. It just sat in the case last night with no batteries installed, so I'm not sure why the difference other than maybe temperature. It is about 70 degrees in my utility room.

I don't know what you mean by "bridging the tailcap", but imho, I shouldn't have to tweak anything for them to work as purchased. I don't want to change or disassemble anything and then have someone assume that I was the one that broke something. They are exactly as received other than putting the batteries in and pointing at the laser power meter.

I'm not mad about it. I'm obviously disappointed, but this can all be fixed by the manufacturer. Just let me know how to proceed.

and thanks again for your help!

Cheers,
Clayton

bridge the tail cap = take the tail cap off and put a penny or something from the battery to the host. this is to test if the tailcap is faulty or something else. no point in sending a whole laser if just the tail cap is faulty. dont think he is asking you to mod the laser at all
