They're 7-9V in @ 0.5-1 Amp. They're standard laserdrive/Melles Griot DC bricks. I don't have a pic sorry.

All good. For people unwilling to go in for 79 dollars per, they might check out the cheaper gold colored PSU's. I think I picked mine up for 20 bucks. Requires more work of course, and nothing just plugs into it. You will have to solder and stuff.

I am thinking about jumping in even though I already have a small HeNe.

Yeah. These will too. They don't use Alden cables to keep the size down, though I can solder them beforehand for those who want the ballast and clips pre-attached.

Are they bare tubes or covered?

They're bare. They look like my p-122 only about a half of the size. Very nice tubes especially considering the size. They're used in laser micrometers and scanners. So unlike the heads, the divergence is more, as they're meant to be refocused according to the need with a small + lens.

Mark me in as interested please. I've fancied myself a HeNe for some time now, but was always put off by not knowing what to look for and the often absent power supplies. Would shipping one of these to the UK be a problem? Please for the love of god don't use USPS. I'll pay top dollar for courier service and exceedingly good packing, so long as we're not talking doubling the price. If it would literally cost double to make sure it got here... then no go... maybe. Let me know :crackup:

EDIT: PS what is a wall wart? Is it not just a case of plug in to the wall and go then? And would it work off 240Volts mains? Over here in the UK we use 50 hertz 240V, if the PSU accepts that then a travel adapter should be all I need.

I'll mark you down. I've shipped gas before, and never had one break on me :) when the time comes, I can get you a quote on shipping. I generally use fedex for my international shipping.

A wall wart is the adopted name to the part you plug into the wall. Hence the term wart or bump on the wall xD the brick takes a lower DC voltage, so you'd gave to find something like this: Amazon.com : Etekcity® Wall Adapter Power Supply 110 - 240V AC input - output 9 Volt 9V DC 650mA 2.1mm X 5.5mm Plug : Electronics and then solder it to the DC brick. Or I suppose buy a lab supply, but that wouldn't be cheap.

@rhd. The bricks I found are the official MG power for the tube. They run on a lower voltage. That one looks just like the tubes were buying tho. They're pretty tiny, About 5.5" long. Are you sure you're not over volting that lil thing? The tiny tubes often only need about 1200-1400V. If they're too high a voltage or current they get pretty toasty.
