Re: OPEN: Taking orders ROUND 4!: THE "Skylaser" (laserBtB) groupbuy!

On the Skylasers site it has the following description for the direct diode greens:

HL515- 30 520nm (Wavelength) 30-35mW single mode
HL520- 50 520nm (Wavelength) 50-55mW single mode

So it seems they're both 520nm? Is 515 is just a "model number" to denote the lower power output?

Or is he purposefully cutting some of the current to the driver to coax the diode into emitting a lower wavelength? Can anyone shed some light on this?

:thanks:

Thanks for investigating further!! Thanks to everyone for your participation and answers here!
Let me see if Im understanding this right. So my HL520 is $73 and you are offering 12.5% off in order to spectro it and take the lowest WL of the pool interested. That'd be $63.88 cost for me. Then since they'd all be shipping to you Id assume id just be paying the added cost per my laser to your order, which is $9. This means that for $72.88 Id get my laser since shipping to me is also covered by you?

Is this correct? If so Id be interested but my original statement of I want my laser at 520nm stands

Please correct anything Im missing Cmak and thanks for the offer. PM me if there are any details we need to hash out
Yes, everything seems to be correct here! Except that I'll never see your laser. All of them will ship straight to the Specto volunteer, and I'll pay shipping from him to you
Yeah that might be a deal breaker on the WL hunt
I don't think what he said applies, because, again, I'll only ever get my own laser(s) (plural in the case that I may buy two myself), because they're all going straight to the volunteer analyzer. Hopefully things don't get complicated for the analyzer, however, otherwise I may need to pay him too :shhh: Also, depending on the final answer regarding these diodes (515 vs 520), I might not take up a 520, or will but with a smaller offer. Supposedly they should have a significant WL difference, but if the opposite is true, I'll likely even change my own order to 50mW just to juice le power. But that's strictly if I'm not sacrificing odds towards my main objective [of WL]. There I go, over-explaining everything with convoluted writing habits

Speaking of volunteers, any takers to do the detailed accurate spectro + power graphing?

Thanks again, everyone. I f'n love this forum

Hey offoroad:

Thanks for the response. How do you know they're different diodes? On the site it says they both run at the same 520nm WL.

Re: OPEN: Taking orders ROUND 4!: THE "Skylaser" (laserBtB) groupbuy!

Actually, funds are a bit too tight for me to make this purchase as some unforseen events have come up and dipped into the money I had set aside for this. So I am going to have to cancel my order unfortunately. Do if you could take me off the list that would be great. Again sorry about canceling my order.

The site is wrong :) Check here for the datasheets of both diodes.

Got you removed

@ everybody the GB is a DEFINITE GO

So that is great news  However not making the goal not even by half will have consequences for the period of time that is between the GB. It will be longer so that their are enough new members to actually make the goal :)

So if your doubting to add another laser to your order, this is the time :) These discounts wont be happening very soon again :shhh:

Put me down for: - PL445- 1600mW $122 + $30 So $152 Total.

Re: OPEN: Taking orders ROUND 4!: THE "Skylaser" (laserBtB) groupbuy!

Put me down for one more of each, totaling two HL-515 and two HL-460, please! Also, one IR-filtered HL-532 300mW, please, for a total of five lasers. What is the situation with 635nm pens—powers, beam specs, prices? Finally, I'd like a total of two non-keyed tailcaps and two remote pins per HL, totaling ten remote pins and ten non-keyed tailcaps for the five HLs. For the gift, HL tripod, please. Thank you!

How's interest in the WL pool coming along? I'm offering 12.5% for each 460nm or 515nm pitched, and I cover the second-shipping fee (from the analyzer to the individuals). So you'll get your laser metered+spectro'd for free, essentially. The pool will be spectro'd by a reputable forum member who receives them all. Speaking of which, any volunteers to do the spectro? I'll gladly pitch for your efforts, because aside from receiving the package and metering them all, you'll have to ship them all [on my dollar].

Also, it's not much, but I'll donate $1 for every laser pooled in. E.g. three people pool in a total of five 515/460 lasers, LPF gets $5.

Got your order changed  about the pens. I never actually owned another wavelength pen them 532nm.. So i am hoping others can fill in? If you want i can mail kevin about it. If you have specific questions for apecific models.

My weight with the gift tripod is 1.8kg. Am I still at $30 for shipping?

You don't pay shipping for the gifts :)

Re: OPEN: Taking orders ROUND 4!: THE "Skylaser" (laserBtB) groupbuy!

I've been doing some reading around and seen that a lot of people are posting about issues with the HL 532nm 300mw mode hopping. As I have never really had a high powered 532nm i've never had an experience with mode hopping myself. So i'm just curious what does mode hopping mean? Lastly, I also dug up some old threads where some people said that their sky lasers (laserbtb) stuff wasn't up to spec. I know that sky lasers is a good company I just want to make sure that people aren't having issues with stuff being up to spec.

Re: OPEN: Taking orders ROUND 4!: THE "Skylaser" (laserBtB) groupbuy!

Mode hopping is a phenomenom (spelled like this?) that occurs whe the crystals that turn the IR wavelength into green heat up. They move a little and that is noticable in the unfocussed dot when seen though safety glasses. You dont see it when the beam is focussed to infinity. It sometimes occurs on high powered green lasers.

I made a video about it:

If you measure your laser not to be up to spec you can get a replacement. A little mode hopping does not affect the output to much (like in the video i did not notice it in the output). But when it is really bad then you will notice it in the output.

Re: OPEN: Taking orders ROUND 4!: THE "Skylaser" (laserBtB) groupbuy!

I've never noticed mode hoping in my HL532-300. Also as you can tell it should be 300mW but last time I metered it, was doing around 450mW. LaserBtb has been one of the companies I've known for being overspec. Look at the reviews from other members in the first post. They are all overspec and they are from members of previous GBs

Re: OPEN: Taking orders ROUND 4!: THE "Skylaser" (laserBtB) groupbuy!

Hope I am not causing an inconvenience- I would like a HL532- 300mW WITH IR filter ($149). Also, I would like a non-keyed cap (along with the keyed cap)..not sure if this costs extra or not. I would like my gift to (obviously) be a handheld mount.

So I think my total is 174$. Just to clarify- I want a non keyed cap AND a normal keyed cap (with key/plug, of course :p). Also, it uses a 16340 battery, right? Just one, or two? Will I actually get any batteries, or will they not be sent, with all this recent battery shipment hubbub?
