If it's DHL, Z, and it's anything like mine was, once it says "Departed sort facility - Hong Kong" you'd better buckle your seat belt, because after that it's FAST!

I.E. How did you fare with the blizzard of 2013? Hope all is well there!

Yeah, took three days last time from the pick up to delivery, if its like last time I'll have them in my hands tomorrow afternoon :D

I'm also looking forward to knowing how the blizzard hit, I got a bit less than three inches but I'm in central PA.

Im a little bit stuck now. Ive been playing with my HL 532 300, and have managed to hit 300mw a couple times, like others it is not stable, and more often than not it is at less than 300 mw, usually right around 200 mw.

Now where I'm stuck at is if I should try to return it. Im kinda leaning toward just keeping it, realizing like usual I did not get the best luck of the draw when it comes to DPSS lasers. I would hate to send it back and have them test it during one of its 300mw periods and have to pay for shipping the same unstable laser back again.

If anyone has any insight or opinion I'd be happy to hear it, just kinda thinking out loud here.

For 145$ you really cant complain about an unstable 532 that is sometimes on spec I suppose, my hopes were just a little higher for these ones.

As far as blizzard goes, in upstate NY where I live we got about 8". The first few were wet heavy flakes but then it got really cold and the rest was very light stuff so it wasn't too bad.
Wouldn't venture to give advice on what to do with the unstable 532 as I believe all of them are. Maybe someone else with more experience that has mutiples of the Sky ones can chime in. Awillis has a couple of them and I'm sure he wouldn't mind giving his input. I think he posted allready about them if you look back a few pages or so. Could have sworn he did a review also but don't hold me to that. Have no idea what it really means when Sky guarantees power to within +- whatever % of stated. Does that mean for a minute or momentarily? Think Infin stated that % somewhere pages ago.
I bet the vets could really shed alot of "light" on why it seems the 532s always seem so finicky. Know with my own greens that I need to really think about what is going on when I test one of them. Always makes me feel a bit on edge when the output drops suddenly like it may have just failed on me.
Awillis were you able to test your 532s filtered? Can't believe how much IR Infins had.

Keep checking my DHL shipment and it has yet to change:( You guys gave me some hope that all of a sudden mine might start to move. Thanks alot:p
Just kidding. Glad that at least most are having better luck than me with the shipping.

Nice collection man :san: Bout the problem. You may just post it on here if you want it does not really mather ;)
Ok, this is going to hurt a little after viewing Pman's case, but hey, I just got started in October of 2012! lol

Well that is still a sweet collection for that period of time! I am guessing that you will need a bigger case very shortly
Awillis is spot on. Can't believe yournot going to be decently overpsec once you get proper volts Lazerman:yh: Way underpowering it with 6 volts.

Be careful with the button orientation of those Sky pens Chance if you store the units with batteries in them. The top of the case will push them in as a couple of us noticed.
Yes that laser will be overspec with some quality cell's :) Also i noticed the problem with the pen case and my pen laser the hard way :( I was lpm'ing it put it back in the box. Still having my glasses on... When i put it of after metering another laser i noticed a green light. The pen had burned through the black case and was pretty hot. allways pull out the batteries people :wtf:

Well, hard decission. It is quite a gamble i mean, if kevin can measure a on spec laser. Your are gonna have a bad time :p Most of the lasers are overspec but like allready stated it is not a guarantee. I am sure someday you will get a very overspec one :)

fluctuation in power can have multiple reasons. The driver can lose stability with bad cells or the driver is unstable with any kind of cells. Also while heating up the dpss crystal deform from heat which leads to loss of efficiency. (correct me if i am wrong).

Also here are some pictures of my 150mW pen laser! I love the damn thing :) Such nice beams from such a small device i love it  I also got no tailcap with key.. gues they don't carry that anymore. Ohwell the laser does not get less appealing to me :D Btw. The PL532 has a super nice divergence in comparison to my HL532 if i recal correctly that is. I will measure it soon :) @infin my lasers also do not have an armed light. Only a blue ON led :)

Here is my humble collection. I got my first laser in August 2012. I do not see myself purchasing many more lasers in the future (probably only in offroads GB's a few times a year) as I have all of the colors (except infra red which I do not need to photograph) I am expecting my 635nm 120mw from DHL this week for to compliment ny 650nm. I pretty much have the lasers I want at the mw's I want to do my photography. Though I can see myself getting a 520nm next group buy. I do not need powerful lasers for the purpose of photography. I have only one laser over 1 watt and that is probably all I will ever have for my needs. Burning is not my thing. I think now I want to concentrate on purchasing more high quality optics, such as different types of prisms, convex and concave lenses, more advanced gratings, etc. Also I will eventually get a LPM when ARGlaser finishes his project and sells me one. One nice thing about the laser hobby is everyone that is into it has their own reasons, likes, and purchasing choices for their own personal needs. To each their own!

Nice cases and units guys. Good to see others sharing some pics.
Offroad, I'm really waiting for a response first.
Glad you like the pen. Love to mess with them. Discrete units that can pack a punch:D

This is something I'm worried about too. If I send back underspec lasers, then have to pay to send them and have them returned, I'll be motivated to ask someone with access to a laser lab to LPM them. I'll post the results here.

OK, the more I look at it, the more it's driving me crazy. Offroad, when you posted your beam pics of your lp532-150 it nearly made me sick. To show you what I mean, here is a pic of my lp532-150 beam spot

The spiderweb splash is ......... YUK / no good / I can't take it out in public for fear of ridicule!

Mine is also having some plash not nearly as much as yours but you did not see that because i was pointing at a black curtain :) Black absorbs the light which makes splash less visible. what does you pen measure at?

I'm about half an hour from having fresh off the charger batteries - I used it last night with the diffraction cap for about 10min (off and on, of course) and it just now peaked @ 189mw with those batteries, quickly dropping to 170 where it "stabilized", slowly dropping after that. I'll check again in a few with batts fresh off the charger.

OK, it drops off WAY quicker and further than I initially thought! This was with FRESH batteries, fresh charge.
