Hmm, now methinks I may have gotten the wrong one.

After looking at pshlosser's picture I looked at my laser and saw that 1) It didn't have my username and 2) It didn't have the H32L model numer on it.

Instead it has Shenzuan keyuan (which is Skylasers) and the model is "DPL". Which upon google searching all I cound find was this (wholesale or buy 300mW Green Portable Laser (DPL)-China 300mW Green Portable Laser (DPL) price, picture) and it shows it as a 300mW laser instead of 50.

My first batch didn't have my user name either but all the lasers were correct and up to specs.

Well, I can report that it works! A contractor at my work had a few CR123A's and I popped one in and the laser is functional. Once my 16340's come in I'll replace it but at least I know it works.

As for whether or not it's up to spec I don't have a tester of any kind to find out.

@ pschlosser, i will get you a new HL532 if it is defective. It will only be on the 18th.. You want me to mail kevin now? So now you have a complaint, IE and kadath.

I want to LPM my LP635-120 and make sure its up to spec. I can see this will take a while. I understand. I'm disappointed, but that's how it goes, sometimes.

I'm sorry, too, offroad, for the heartache this causes you.

Peace, good brother.

I filled him in on the shipping status of the others:

Thanks Kevin!

thanks: Offroad
I'm dismantling my Prius HEV for the Lithium pack... what did you say that lasers duty cycle was again:crackup:

My Prius has prismatic NiMH batteries. Some ppl add lithium packs for plugin hybrid modding.

I have the new hybrid plug-in model and it uses lithium. Up to 11 miles on battery to 62mph. Works the same as a normal Prius as far as regenerative breaking etc. For charging but you can also plug it in to charge. Electricity is cheaper than gas (at least in the US).

Not a happy camper right now concerning my order. Expect to be posting this evening about my Sky issues if I don't get satisfactory answers before then. None of it has anything to do with Offroad who has been more than kind and has/is working hard for us.:thanks: Offroad as always.

Ask Kevin for permission to potmod the HL450 laser with keeping the warranty. The laser can do easily 250mW with a turn of a screwdriver.

95% i would potmod mine :p just keep the thing on your lpm while you turn the screw. Set at 250mW done

If Kevin is ok with that, I definitely do 100% want to pot mod it... not looking to get to 250mW, but if I can get ~150-200mW I would be very pleased with that laser.

I got home tonight and they where waiting in the living room, everything looks good including the pen type gift. So far I have setup the HL532 for a quick power test and it looks pretty good, that was with a fresh IMR 550.

Did you test for IR by any chance? You would need either an IR filter, or a second set of goggles. If you're using goggles make sure to move them around.

My 50mw HL532 came sans the 16340 battery but it too has a "mushy" power button. Unfortunately I don't HAVE any batteries at the moment to see whether or not it's DoA.

All lasers came without batteries... safer to ship that way. Best option would be to buy a set of AW IRM 16340 batteries from lighthound... they ship out very fast.

All of the lasers in my second half of the order, do not have username, or model name, just the serial number same as yours, and they all say DPL on them, the 650, 635, 450, and 405. I don't think it means anything.

Would have been nice to have Name, Username, and Model on the label same as the last GB. (Not so subtle hist to Kevin ;))

I'm concluding my HL532-300 has no output. DOA. :( I'm seriously bummed. I get that Kevin will fix this, but it looks like I'll have to wait for several weeks before I can play. Maybe, even a month. :p

That sucks :(

Welcome to the island of dissatisfied misfits.

Idk, personally I would have preferred to wait until after the holidays for another 2-3 weeks, if it had meant a lot more quality control, like maybe running every laser on an LPM for at least a few minutes.

Also the bit about Sky having the longest warranty is not true... don't they only offer 6 months? Many companies offer up to a year, and will still repair strictly for price of shipping & parts after that.

Lasers Have Arrived!

Now I have to go get some batteries (yes, dummy me, busy doing other things and was not ready!)
There was no battery type/ installation note included with the lasers, it would have been a useful inclusion, as I have no other DPL-type lasers and do not know the battery type (16340?).

I have ordered a Laserbee II so that I can measure these, and my other lasers.

The lasers are not marked on the label as to wavelength, so will not be able to tell which is which until first light.

They were shipped with diffraction caps and the optional tailcaps with the dongle plug.

:thanks: Offroad and Kevin, for doing this group buy!

Normally when you buy one of these lasers, you buy them true there website wich has all the info you need. (if you missed it, it's in the first post of this topic)

On laserbtb:
It say's the 405nm uses 2×16340 cells.
Under it it say's that the 460nm is the same.
I believe every HL laser uses 16340 and for the green, you can only use one 16340 cell. (correct anyone ?)

Btw :D Congratz with the lasers

Cheers, Sm.

Every PL and HL lasers I got have a sticker with battery type and orientation printed. It is the sticker nearest to the tailcap. Did yours have a sticker ?

I'll check when I get home tonight.

All the HL's I have so far, are 16340 only, and all are case positive (+to tailcap). The 405 definitely uses two 16340. I don't remember whether the others are two, or 1 16340, but I think that's kind of self evident.
