Re: ROUND 2!: THE "Skylaser" (laserBtB) groupbuy!

I just got my paycheck, and it was a lot smaller than I thought it would be. Apparently the new tax rates just went into affect, so I'm going to have to take the HL650 off of my order. Totally lame, right? Hopefully I can get it in the next groupbuy (I'm hoping there will be another round)!

Ah that i a pain in the *ss! I will remove the HL650. Yes there will be another GB but there is a larger time in between them this time. When exactly i dont know..

Sigh, please add the HL-405-500mW ($115) to my order. This is andrewProgrammer's fault. He reviewed this laser and did too good a job. Lucky for me performance bonuses just came out at work.

What are your thoughts on batteries for the HL405? Are IMR cells required to keep up with its current draw, or will standard 16340's (from Orbtronic) be enough?

:na:

I use IMRs. If you read the comments on my review, you would have noticed that someone asked for a draw test on the laser, and you would have seen that I didn't get around to that. However, I finally borrowed a multimeter and tested the draw. It came in at a steady 430mA. Most batteries should be able to handle that much draw, but the IMRs will perform better and last longer. In fact, I just bought 4 more IMR 16340's from yob the other day. Oh, and I'm going to have to update my review with the Amperage I found.

Edit: I'll also answer this question over in my review thread, too.

Adding you now! Lol yes reviews make it very tempting :) also i would 100% recommend IMR batteries. My PL445 does about 1.8W on normal 16340's and 1.9W/2W with IMR's. Especially the HL532-300mW single 16340 NEEDS IMR :p

Adding you now!

Greetings,,

Sounding like you should start an imr group buy as well.

Re: ROUND 2!: THE "Skylaser" (laserBtB) groupbuy!

Could you put me down for (1)

_______________________pen532- 150mW 60$

& can I add the IR filter to it?

I prefer the pen NOT to be white, but if it turns out to be white, that's ok.

I understand the part about pp gift due to the tiny amount of my posts. Just let me know when & where to send payment.

I've heard pros & cons to the IR filter, and I probably won't be able to tell if it's in there.....but I'd like it there if possible.

thanks

Thought about it. I'm not nearly organized or patient enough for it though.

The problem with battery orders, would be re-shipping/shipping costs. There would have to be a minimum order amount, per participant, for it to make sense. Probably something like $40.

Plus there are good batteries to be had from this forum, and others, so the savings wouldn't be huge... certainly there, but possibly not worth the hassle.

Re: ROUND 2!: THE "Skylaser" (laserBtB) groupbuy!

I have a ton (well almost) of batteries and alot more lasers than I have listed but only use my IMR's (various sizes) and panasonic cells (18650b's) for the more serious units in my sig. All other cells can be used for whatever. It's well worth the investment for the cells these guys are mentioning. It's very important to charge correctly also. Why spend alot on expensive units and chintz on the batteries and chargers.... doesn't make sense. Should not think of them as an afterthought. Just my 2cents.;)
Pretty much any modern vehicle can run on different octane fuel but for best performance you use the manufacturers recommended. Putting high octane fuel in a vehicle that doesn't call for it is usually a waste also. Have read ALOT of posts about this stuff on these forums but if you think about it a moment most is commom sense:tinfoil:
Apreciate these forums as always! Great info. and so much testing has allready been done for all our benefits:wave:

Hey. Sorry if i missed it in the posts, but whats up with that 460nm? Is it a true 460nm? or is it a 445/450? If its actually 460nm then im in for damn sure. haha

No, it is not. I never heard of a 460nm laser before. The manufacturer use an Osram PL450 diode for the laser. It has wavelength of 450nm which is almost the same as the 445nm diode.
