Re: GB for OEM Laser Systems protective eyewear

I'd take the AL3 style 36. Possibly even 2 pairs.

Re: GB for OEM Laser Systems protective eyewear

FrothyChimp I have a question if I may. I have a large head and wear extra large hats. Is #35 style going to be ok? Perhaps some physical measurements would be helpful.

My favorite sun glasses are 5.75" across the brow.

I have a big squash too. I'm getting #38.

Does the 36 fit around glasses? Or do I need the 38? What are the measurements for each one?

Hey Frothy. How come style 700/900 are now the same price as all the rest? Weren't they ~$40 before?

Re: GB for OEM Laser Systems protective eyewear

The style 700/900 were always the same price. We did at one time offer a hobby version of the 700 in the AL2 and the HEA filters at a special price. Only a few people bought them so we got rid of them never to return. They were like $37.20 or something like that.

Glasses will work with #36 and #38. The differences between the two are only a couple of mm. For our new website due out at the end of summer we are pairing them down to just the #38 and #900 so there isn't any more confusion between the medium and large models. The rest will remain as is.

Re: GB for OEM Laser Systems protective eyewear

Would style 36 be any larger than style 35 (temple to temple measurement)? Trying to figure out what would be the best fit. Although I might have to wear glasses more often in the coming months, so 36 may be best....

Re: GB for OEM Laser Systems protective eyewear

Hey anybody in the U.S. interested in doing a little "Group Buy" of sorts with DragonLaser's safety glasses? They're OD 4+ for 405nm-532nm, with excellent consistency and no drops in the 445nm area whatsoever. $25 per pair, $18 shipping each. If we get two, shipping remains at $18, but for both (so $9 per person). Three would bump it up to $26, but still that's less than $9 per person, as compared to $18.

Let me know if anyone's interested... I'd be more than happy to either host the "GB" or have a veteran or a more trusted member handle it.

Excuse the de-railing of the original topic, but i do feel this is an appropriate place to post this brief note... feel free to correct me if I'm incorrect in my assumption :undecided:

You aren´t interested in the OEM goggles any longer?

Re: GB for OEM Laser Systems protective eyewear

I was interested in that, the thread that was already posted for that turned into the OEM group buy. I've still got a little bit of concern of the quality/certification of the DL glasses, but for $30 or more cheaper, it's pretty tempting.

Re: GB for OEM Laser Systems protective eyewear

I have a question for Frothy Chimp
On the OEM website, it says, under EN207/208 Specifications that the
KRY - VLT:10% - OD5+ (190-579nm)

are "Not CE CErtified"

But it also says under ANSI Z136 Specifications

"OD 5+ @ 190-579nm"

i dont understand what this means, are they certified or not? or is there multiple certifications you can get on them?
Sorry for the noob question

Re: GB for OEM Laser Systems protective eyewear

ANSI is the North American standards body. CE is the European standards body. All eye wear is ANSI approved. Most are CE approved. Eventually all of them will be CE rated.

See for yourself. I'm basing all my info off of what's on that page.

The graph seems pretty convincing though... seems to be consistently OD 4.2 or higher all the way from Blu-Ray to 532nm, with no gaps or anything in between.

To sum up, I trust DL enough to be willing to buy these and use my upcoming Arctic (and future 12X) with them. I base my trust off of what's written on that page, my past experiences with DL, and their great reputation amongst laser enthusiasts.

Oh and DJNY, I still might be interested in the OEM's... what's the final decision in terms of model, price, and specs?
