Re: GB for OEM Laser Systems protective eyewear

I sent him my confirmation + address and so on 3-4 days ago

I sent a PM to everyone that was on the fence or hadn't responded yet. If a member responded to my original query and said they were confirming, I responded back to them that I recieved their message and updated the status post. I can have people tell me again they're really really sure they want to buy, but I'm taking everyone at their word. :D

Re: GB for OEM Laser Systems protective eyewear

Assuming you have a box, you can send packages for < $3 each via first class or media mail. Insurance is probably unnecessary, but is only $1.75 up to $50 and $2.25 up to $100. Maybe just see what Dave is willing to charge for shipping; even with handling fees (i.e. thank you Dave) it should be less than half of your quoted price.

You must have missed my post where I posted Dave was willing to ship first class... Just after that Dave himself posted saying priority was over-kill.

"Figuring a box the size listed above with a 1 pound total weight:
A domestic parcel W/ delivery confirmation will be $6.
International parcels will be $11"

I don't think we should assume Dave happens to have 20+ boxes laying around he can use... $6 seems extremely reasonable to me.

I definitely want a pair, but I'm still waiting for my PM, what's up?

Re: GB for OEM Laser Systems protective eyewear

The glasses, case and cloth and that is assuming this is what comes with the glasses shouldn't weigh much more than 3.5oz and a padded envelope with bubble wrap would weight about the same. So the weight shouldn't be much more than a pound like daguin stated in a reply to you. I was also thinking it would be around $6 shipped here in the states. So that is what I would want, daguin knows his shipping.

So go the cheap route, I have received many 1st class mail packages within two to three days as well. Maybe I'm just lucky...?

Re: GB for OEM Laser Systems protective eyewear

RELAX people! The situation is fluid and Extelon has never done one of these before. There is a reason I do not do GB's. Y'all want everything for nothing and can get quite "energetic" in your replies and demands.

As near as I can tell, Extelon is getting NOTHING for all of his trouble. You should actively be trying to be kind to him.

The goggles' case is too tall to fit into a small, flat-rate box. Extelon's original shipping price was based on O.E.M's suggestion that we use a medium, flat-rate box with $75 insurance and signature confirmation. ($10.70+2.35+2.25=$15.30) Round up the last $.70 for additional shipping supplies and gas to the post office for me.

The $6 is 1st class parcel with delivery confirmation

You are buying a quality pair of goggles. These are not just a pair of Wicked Shades in a plastic baggie.
Come to think of it, even Wicked Shades come with a case that would not fit into a small flat rate box.
We cannot (and should not) just shove them into a padded envelope

Peace,
dave

**EDIT**
-- I think that I need to do a write up on how REAL Group Buys actually work. The concept has been "tainted" by people doing "pre-sales" with profit.

That beats my $8 price. Like I said before I didn't expect anyone to trust me on this one. I vanish for months at a time after I get what I want.

Good for you Dave, thanks for shouldering this one for us.

Re: GB for OEM Laser Systems protective eyewear

I wasn't trying to be rude or energetic. I'm glad extelon took the initiative on this and I'm glad you (Dave) and scopeguy20 (Glenn) are also helping out! As far as the padded envelope I personally have never had anything come broken or damaged. Amazon ships a lot of stuff this way, with the addition to the package being marked fragile and the added protection from more bubble wrap or air bags I think it would be fine IMO. But obviously boxes are stronger and would take more of a beating. Overseas would have to get a box for obvious reasons.

I apologize if I came across as arrogant or upset. I was simply stating my opinion on the shipping matter.

Yeeeah... sorry about that, I did miss it. I think I was writing the message at the time with all those overblown pricing figures I threw in, and seeing if the $16 would actually result in a net loss compared to going alone, but it didn't. I was just worried that it might come crashing down if people didn't find it a huge savings.

On another note, we have 25 dedicated, which gets us the 15% + 7.5%, but need 26 to get free shipping, which saves $36 off the entire order. Soo.. if we spend $20 more, we can get another goggle pair (assuming an AL3), and complete this order with the free first-hop shipping, and perhaps one of the GB people can have it as a gift for all the help.

Actually, I think 26 is for the best discount:

No matter what the actual number of units we will ship free to the organizer. The best percentage discount is 26+.

Counting the numbers of Y's on the first post, I come up with only 24 confirmed. . .
BUT since me and blackspirit were only added today, we only got our PMs today. So we're still listed as unconfirmed, but I've now confirmed and I'm pretty sure blackspirit will likely have done the same. Once extelon checks in again an re-tallies this will probably be a non-issue.

I'll take this moment to thank extelon, daguin and Scopeguy20 for helping us all out here, and FrothyChimp for some great customer service!

Nice :D
+ I think "aryntha" doesn´t check his PM-inbox regulary, he isn´t the one who says something and doesn´t do it ;)

Re: GB for OEM Laser Systems protective eyewear

OK, I've updated the confirmation post... I also picked up a pair of ML7's myself to help bump the total count to 27!!!! I will give the last few people still pending until the end of the day, then I'll close the GB and send the list over to OEM to get a final price... Once I get the price back, I will work with scopeguy20 and daguin to get a final price per person. At that point we can start collecting payments.

I think I'm going to go ahead and get another AL3 at the 35 style.
