Re: GB for OEM Laser Systems protective eyewear

I was thinking about the OD for red too, but I can't seem to find any goggles which are both OD2-3 for ~650nm and overkill for 808nm IR (as I understand it, since it's invisible there is no blink reflex to save my eyes or even notice an accidental shot, right?)
What would be the minimum power (after attenuation by goggles) to even notice a red dot?
Thanks!

You can get an ML7 which blocks the IR, and is about OD1.5 for red. You don't get IR from red diodes, only from DPSS lasers, or IR lasers, so the IR filtering is more useful in conjunction with green-filtering goggles (like the ML7).

Re: GB for OEM Laser Systems protective eyewear

But OD1.5 reduces light by a factor of 10^1.5=31.6, and 500mW / 31.6 turns out to be 15.8, which is still above the Class IIIa limits and not safe (or is my understanding of OD or "safe" messed up)?
Also, the reason I want both in one goggle is to be able to use different kinds of diodes with one pair of goggles - if goggles were available which covered these and 405nm/445nm, I would like those, but sadly, they don't exist. That, and to avoid the horror story of "I put on the wrong goggles and can't see anymore!"

Re: GB for OEM Laser Systems protective eyewear

see my previous post.
I am not going to continue here. The member selling the OEM's has all available, I am sure.

What if we wanted the YLW lenses? They would be $63?

I don't have any high power green, IR, or red lasers... only BluRay and the WL Arctic (soon).
Since I don't need >460nm I'd rather go for the 73%VLT... they should be much more pleasant to wear.

Re: GB for OEM Laser Systems protective eyewear

I'm interested in the YLW - Style 35

I just want to make sure I understand the discount, because there seems to be some conflicting/confusing info:

---
[...] Some options for 445nm. Take 20% off listed prices. [...]
[edited for clarity][...] what we will do is offer a 7.5% discount across the board using a discount coupon. There are also volume discounts that automatically get applied for additional savings.
[...]
11-25 Units is 10% discount
26+ is 15% discount

So, if you buy [x] pair of glasses you get a 7.5% discount plus a quantity discount of [y]% resulting in a [7.5 + y]% total discount.
---
[...]When I originally contacted OEM about this GB, they said they would provide free shipping for 25 or more units to the organizer as well as the 20% discount. I want to ensure it was indeed 25 and not 26 units for this discount.
Yes, you are correct, 25 is the number not 26.
---
The deal is, whatever is the price on the website - (bulk discount (15% off for 25 pairs, assuming we get them) + 7% off for OEM's generous coupon) + shipping (probably $5 or something, USA).
Its 20% on 25 pairs.
---

The way I'm reading this,

11-24 units is 10% off + the 7.5% coupon code = 17.5% off

25 units is 20% off + free shipping to the GB middle-man [?]

26+ units is 15% off + the 7.5% coupon code = 22.5% off + free shipping to the GB middle-man [?]
---
I'm in regardless of the math since I was planning to order these earlier today at full price.:takeit:

Re: GB for OEM Laser Systems protective eyewear

@avusmaximus From what I understand, it will be like this: 25 units is 15% off + 7.5% off discount regardless of quantity = 22.5% off + free shipping to middleman.

It's your 3rd line, but the number is 25, not 26. 26 is the number on the OEM website, but FrothyChimp told us he'd make it 25.

Re: GB for OEM Laser Systems protective eyewear

Thanks Lumify, that makes sense to me after re-reading.

By my count we have 29... We just need someone to organize now?

This is my first time participating in a GB, so pardon my anxiousness for the ball to start rolling. (Like many others I'm sure) I ordered an Arctic and don't entirely trust the LaserShades that are included. It would be nice to have this eyewear at around the same time that the laser arrives.

Looking at the $100+ price tag (after shipping) for the YLW eyewear was hard to swallow. Thanks for setting this up!

Re: GB for OEM Laser Systems protective eyewear

It looks like we are just waiting for an experienced member to step in and handle the group buy. Also, remember that the list is just those who are interested, no commitment necessary. Once it actually comes down to paying for these the number of participants might go down a bit, but hopefully not below 25

We need the monkey online for the update!!

If every member participating in this GB puts $1 in the pot for the "shipping-vet", it would be fine!
Collecting addresses, packing, write down addresses, going to the post office... is worth the $1!!

Because we added the 7.5% discount to help if you couldn't get 25 pair, the percentage does indeed work out to a 22.5% discount if you order 26 or more plus free shipping to whomever is the organizer.

Isn´t it possible that YOU do this GB for US people and Dave for people oversea? Of course for a lil extra $$$ for you both.

Re: GB for OEM Laser Systems protective eyewear

The reason I don't run it is twofold. The first is we the supplier. The second is I don't have the time to run the GB. See below:

We are happy to assist by providing discounts. Those discounts are offered because we do not have to pay anyone to individually ship every order or pay them to deal with first class shipping issues since we always ship via traceable means.

Re: GB for OEM Laser Systems protective eyewear

I can help but I cant take payment for the GB. If you want them shipped to me, I can put them in Priority Rate boxes and ship them out to everyone. I only need funds for packing material, and the actual postage. US orders will be around ~$7 total, I'll have to check for international shipping. The quickest I can ship will be around the 10-12th of July.

If anyone has a better option please speak up. I dont really have the time to do this, but if no other option is presented I will.

I don't know if Glenn (scopeguy) could do it considering he usually only does CNI stuff, but we could ask. Right?
