Re: "CLOSED.!!!" GB: For The New 3.8mm Red Diodes 660nm (Taking Payments for Round 2)

Alright. For those who got the DX/kaidomain driver it works fine, to get 700mA out instead of 1050 then you just have to take off one of the 7135 chips,

I took this one off

And this is what I got out of it

I did notice that when I took the 3rd 7135 chip off the modes were
No longer working :( but I don't really want modes so it's no biggie for me but just a warning to everyone else...

I want modes... Would taking a different chip off be more likely to leave modes intact? Thanks!

I just got my DX package today. I've been building the kids stuff! :p

I dont know what would leave the modes :/ I only ordered one :banghead:

It should have left the modes but I don't know why it didn't... Originally high mode was 1050, medium was 350 and low was 50 then there was SOS, strobe etc...

You must have bridged the Vdd pin of the AMC to a positive connection. The modes work by the microcontroller putting a pwm signal on the Vdd pin so if you bridge it to positive they will be full on all the time. It looks like you bridged it where you took the other chip out.

Tsteele, as long as you don't bridge anything you will be fine.

thanks for the input & i thought it worked like that aswell, i checked & those were very close together so i seperated them more & i got the same results... maybe mines defective

i dont need modes anyways

Re: "CLOSED.!!!" GB: For The New 3.8mm Red Diodes 660nm (Taking Payments for Round 2)

I have had good results with the AMC 7135 drivers.

I used the existing driver in an Ultrafire C8 (I think it has an AX2002 chip) but the output varied from 105mA at 3.7V to 138mA at 4.2V and it eventually took out a PHR laser diode.

I recently bought a couple of linear drivers from fleabay. They seemed very stable over a wide voltage range, but between them they took out 4 red diodes on switch on when set for between 130mA and 250mA. I'm very careful what i use now.

I'm currently looking for a good all round low current boost driver for PHR's (about 100-130mA) and a good linear driver for red's (100-300mA).

Oh and Anthot, do you have any 3.8mm modules in stock?

@ AnthoT sorry but do you think you could post a high res or zoomed in shot of your board modification. Im still waiting for mine to arrive (ordered 3 weeks ago from Kaidomain...), so I dont have one in front of me to study. I would like to see exactly how you connected the contacts after removing the chip.:)

Sorry i can't pay for the 2 diodes of the second round. You can remove me from the spreadsheet and give the diodes to someone else. I apologize for the inconvenience :/

YOU should find someone who is interested in taking over your diodes. This isn´t a feeler, Angelos already paid for the diodes you ordered.

Sure I'll take a high resolution photo in a bit ;)

Were you ever able to put the linears on a scope? Seems like maybe a (bigger) cap on the output?

Alright here's the best photo I could take, (sorry for my lousy photography skills)

Oh and i got the modes back, it turns out I actually shorted the + out with the first pin of the microcontroller, so now low is 35mA, medium is 250mA & high is 700mA

Glad to hear about the modes and thanks for the photo! :) Maybe I could trouble you to send it via email, as the res on LPF is a bit low? Have sent a PM ;) :thanks:
