Re: FEELER: XPL Lasers (RG:Y, RB:M, high-power 532s, etc)

I purchased an RG-Y from O-like awhile back and took pics with comments on it:

There was an issue with the first one I received so skip to post 57 for the real deal;) you can see how mine looks more yellow than the golden orange tinted actual 589nm.

It seems to me that this GB won't really save that much money - it would be much better to just ask Peng to create an LPF discount code. Agreed?

An LPF discount code would be great, but if there is potential for him to heavily discount the shipping or the lasers themselves I think that would be the ideal option, right?

This is coming from a newbie who's never done a group buy before though.

I spoke to Peng about shipping costs, and even when buying large amounts the shipping cost per laser does not substantially decrease. So it is best, I think, to call off the GB, and try and get an LPF discount instead.

Looks like that's the best, at this point.
Thank you for all of your hard work. Must have been a PITA.

Agreed, thanks for all the effort Sta.
Does anyone plan on buying the RG-Y on their own pretty soon? Since the GB is off I'd like to see a couple reviews before buying for myself :)

What happened Sta? Isn't the discount the reason why you started the GB?

Of course, a discount is the reason anyone starts a GB. But the discount, it seems, isn't significant enough to justify going through all the trouble of hosting a GB, sending lasers out, et cetera. An LPF discount would be much easier to handle and much less messy.

Sta, a very well meant thanks for trying:beer: Some did not make it a pleasant experience thats for sure. Kudos for keeping your cool through out. Its also apparent Peng wasn't really willing to give a price break. Good job bud:)

Edit: True they were actually pretty cheap from day one.

Thanks, GSS. We shouldn't go too hard on Peng - the prices are already incredibly low, and I am confident that we can get an LPF discount.

Looks like there's a 10% discount on the site now. So an LPF discount might be 20-30%? Wouldn't argue with more. Thanks for the effort Sta. It sure would have been a major hassle for you or whoever did it. Despite what some have said Peng and his company seem honest as far as metering goes. I'd for sure order assuming a decent discount.

!00% true Sta. A GB is not a trivial amount of work--is a lot of work, time, and responsibility under the best of circumstances with well known products and companies.

Not much experience or track record exists among members with XPL products/Mr. Peng but given Mr. Peng will ship first quality product that meet specs. and guarantee delivery, his prices are already very low, that should be incentive enough for members to give some of his products a try.

Not sure how much room exists within XPL products for additional lowering of already very low prices but it can't be much and any discount/concession to LPF members would be a nice ---something being better than nothing.

The other aspect is that XPL customer service, products, and product quality is not a known thing among LPF members so what can people possibly expect for the exceptionally low/almost impossibly low prices of XPL products.
laserbtb 500mW 532nm -- $483
Jetlasers 500mW, 532nm $549
Mr. Peng/XPL 500mW, 532nm regular price $119 with 10% off $107 --for that price is isn't rational to expect anything like either of the two above provide in product or customer service.

It remains to be seen what it is people actually get at those crazy low prices-- quality, product and customer service wise.

Keep in mind also at XPL's product prices doing a trackable return for refund, repair, or exchange to China doesn't much sense and I can't imagine Mr. Peng is going to cover any of those costs, if they become necessary, considering the price of the products.
Example: $100 product-----cost to return to China and reship to USA approx:$90.
You might as will just order/buy another one and hope Mr. Peng will cherry pick one for you if you were not happy the first time.

Ok fine with me as long as we can get a discount. Thanks for all your effort to bring this company into view, and for setting up the group buy.

LPF discount sounds way better. I don't think people realize how much work goes into a GB, metering, bounce shipping ext.
