Haha what updates do you suggest I post? The price update we don't have or the time update we don't have ?
And his render is In the op.

I think I can handle the updates sorry, just never did it earlier because there were no updates

You mean pics of the battery voltage light? The battery voltage monitor is in the OP, but not pics. I didnt think many people were to interested in the pictures of the pcb board layout

Hi JakeGT:
Would it help move things along if people were willing to pre-pay/make a firm order---assuming you recon an approximate price/cost?
Alternatively maybe a deposit say $50 each Would give some working capital to pay for materials and cutters etc.
.
If it is not a matter of money and only a matter of available time then disregard my questions/ideas.

Would be happy to order &/or prepay 2 pieces, making my order real, if it will help.

Regards,
Encap

We will not take or even talk money until pontiac is ready to even begin to start these, ao we will just all wait until he's ready, and then we will be ready.

I may be interested in one. If I do go for one, I'm going to need a pulsed driver because I'm really going to push my diode. Copper direct press for me also, although I may need to get someone else to do that.

I will be having somebody press my diode also, as I have never done a direct press heatsink, and feel like a few bucks is worth saving a $50 diode

I always do direct press. With these high power 405's & 445's, I personally feel the direct press is a must for optimal cooling.

Hi again JakeGT:

Is a WAG but imagine at least 100 pieces are spoken for already and at $100 each that is a $10,000 order, not too shabby/worth doing .

There must be a way to peak pontiac's interest to do and fit in a small run of 100-200 pieces.

You are right you can't take even deposit money without knowing when if ever the thing is going to be scheduled for production.

Regards,
Encap
PS Has it been determined what Al alloy will be used (7025?) yet? If yes which one?

How do I make that face-palm graphic appear ??!? ;)

200 units of a 5 (7?) piece design... so just a thousand pieces to CNC plus or minus a few hundred. Basically, a good healthy small run.... something to tackle on a raining Sunday.

I've never touched a CNC machine, but I can at least recognize that 1,000 of anything isn't a small job. These creations could be made out of origami and it would still be a massive undertaking.

WOW

I vote that every time Encap makes a suggestion he owes Pontiac a cookie and that every time jakeGT doesn't update the thread fast enough we take a dollar off the price which he has to pay from his pocket.

:D

My school made 1000 origami cranes once and put 'em on a string to be put up in that memorial in Hiroshima. They got every student in the school to fold one, and then the nerds all folded up a whole load and together we reached 1000. Pretty cool to think about.

I guess I am looking at a cookie crisis- running low on pecan sandies LOL

Lets see 100-200 pieces ---depending upon type of CNC 3axis. 4 axis, 5 axis--with 5 axis would be easy and fast but would guess pontaic does have one

5(7) parts hummm I wonder how they will be assembled -- I hope the the pieces on either side of the handgrip section are not just press fit like the Arctic--many of those have fallen apart because of same---I guess good threads would be nice with appropriate locktite product.

I believe pontiac will be using a 4 axis IIRC and eveything your pretty much posting has either been covered or recovered in earlier posts. If you have some time do some reading in the first 200 posts or so this is where pontiac and the community in on this GB finalized the design for this host.
