Hey Igor that is all quite exciting and extremely interesting .  I would be more clear on the long and short waves if you can call them that way, I think higher frequency (shorter) wave, and lower frequency, as (longer) waves, but I am sure I figured out which you mean.  Thanks!  -Glenn

By higher wavelength i mean higher number (longer wavelength), and by lower wavelength i mean lower number (shorter wavelength).

Higher wavelength PHRs look brighter, but get increased less (only 26%), lower wavelengths look dimmer, but get increased more (up to 43%)..

Even if a healthy low (short) wavelength PHR should get increased less than the weird zombie, this still shows, that with wavelengths around 405nm OVER 29.7% can easily get lost simply on baking a slab of plastic...

If an acrylic lens wastes 30%, that means there is 43% more light behind it. I hope everyone understands why the percentages are different depending on direction of calculation?

Anyway, that's why acrylic lenses age rapidly in UV light. The shorter the wavelength, the more light gets absorbed by the lens and converted to heat.

I expected there to be differences, but not this big! With the spherical lens, i got numbers between 16.5 -18.5%, depending on the wavelength. But there i did not select the two most different wavelengths on purpose, so maybe this is why. I definitelly did not expect there to be a range of 26-43%!

Hey Zom-B.. By posting those pictures you made someone think you have my lenses and that they make a spot with rings.. :p

Sounds like there needs to be a disclaimer over the pics since (as it is common amongst most humans I've met) they can't be bothered to actually READ and interpret what they're looking at, they just assume  :p

The average power increase for the PHRs should be >30%!

I suspect 4x's will also be increased more. Their beam profile is somewhere between the PHR and the 6x, while the wavelength is shorter.. This should be interesting!

Again, i repeat (for those, who don't read), it's not because the throughput of the glass lens would vary between these diodes, but because the losses in acrylics vary, depending on the beam profile and the wavelength.

So it's the losses in acrylics that vary, and since the increase is based on acrylics, the increase varies among these diodes. The important part is, that with each of them, the lens brings out all there is, with barelly any retroreflections.... ;)

In any case, i am having a lot of fun with lens #1 (long FL) in my 6x. Even tho it's not the highest power, it's the only one so far, that works with a focusing ring..

Lens #2 is in my red, where it makes a beautiful thin beam! Even the fast axis is bellow 2mm. Hard to measure preciselly.

Did you turn this plate around to lower the NA even more?

I put it IN FRONT of the focus ring, not where it came from.

Igor, are you going to start a LENS FS thread in the BST section? :p

Oh! That's why you got rings..

If you want to test with a rounder thinner beam, put that plate where it came from, but turn it around, so that the plate is closer to the lens. This will reduce the NA a lot.

That's what i did with the spherical lenses, to clip the "wings"... And there were no rings created, that's why i didn't understand why you were getting them...

No.. I would have to sell them for like $39.95, if i wanted to make ANY money on them...

They will be available in the GB. After the GB they won't be available anymore. I will try to buy up as many as i can, but i'm not likelly to let them go outside of the lasers which i'll sell to hopefully get the invested money back.

So if anyone wants them, they will have to say so when i start taking orders for the GB.

When i know the price of lenses in lens nuts, i will let everyone know, and start a new GB thread....

But i have a lot of work to do first. Figuring out the lens nuts is the least of my worries.. Most importantly, i need to get some money together, so that i can buy lenses too.  Otherwise i will be the only one without, because i spent way too much to get to this point..

I think as soon as the group buy thread is posted, getting some money flowing for fund/pay for them will be the least of your worries. LOL.

Re: 405nm AR glass lenses - fit AixiZ  FEELER

Yeah, well, i need to buy MANY for myself as well! I can't buy my own with other people's money.. If i wanted to make money on this GB, i would have to increase the price, to where it would be outside the worst initial predictions.. I still don't even know how much the lens nuts will influence it.

The first six lenses were relativelly cheap. There i could even make the by then invested money back without blowing the GB's budget. But they didn't work. They were cheap but they were cheap cos the quality was too low.

These are high quality precision grade aspherics. Unlike all the others, these were designed for laser diodes. They even have diode window thickness compensation! Other than collimating the beam, their shape also undistorts the spherical abberations caused by the diode window! These are diffraction limited lenses! Lenses where the size of the foused spot depends only on the wavelength! These are lenses, that could write a disk!

With these, if i want it to go through at all, it will have to be at manufacturing cost. The only thing i'll have from it, will be that i'll be able to buy a relativelly small number of lenses at the price they have at 250 pieces.

Hopefully, i can then get some of the money back by selling a few high power lasers with the lenses in them.

I'm just happy, that i don't have to waste any more money on this! It's over!

Because the lenses i have here now have exceeded even my wildest expectations! :D

Okay, I can't stand it!
Change mine from "a couple" to 7.
Oops, had to wipe off some drool there. Seems to happen every time I start reading this thread for some reason... ;)

Edit: Lens #2 Broadband
