Oh, you can be sure i'll take MANY pictures! First of the babies still unpacked, i'll be so careful with these, like never before!


I'm just so excited, that in a few hours, i'll have the final product in my hands! I hope at least, that they got released today. The manufacturer did not follow my shipping instructions preciselly, so i'll have to pay once more..


But it's gonna be worth it! I went through SIX different useless lenses in the meanwhile. I wasted so much time and money on cheap lenses, that paying to get these three quality lenses coated and shipped with express was actually a relief.

I didn't even post about the failures of the lens 4, 5 and 6, because while v3 and v6 were the best so far, they were not even worth mentioning and i didn't want to make anyone worried, because i also found three good lenses that were made for lasers and guaranteed to work.. It was a complicated project and it pretty much exhausted me in every aspect. So i'm glad it's finally coming to a successful conclusion.



I know it took abnormally long. And to be honest, there were several times, where i just wanted to quit and cut my losses. The original custom lens GB idea failed with the original custom lens. I could have just ended it there and then, after losing $700. But i went through five more useless lenses after that. Various manufacturers wasted my time with empty promisses, and by not answering my emails when i had questions not directly related to me giving them money.

That pissed me off so much, that i went nuts. I realized i was relying too much on a handful of manufacturers, so i spent every spare moment in the most frantic (for other reasons) week of my life, on finding several manufacturers WILLING to make the lenses for us, and then selected the one with the best prices, without giving up on the quality.




And now they are almost here.

Glad you didn't quit on it Igor, glad you stuck it out and kept going . These lens are going to be amazing you should easily recope your money from the sales , not only that they should make your lasers truley unique ;D

I was so busy expecting them yesterday, that i could barelly do anything else... And yet they didn't come. So i was hoping they would come this afternoon. Definitelly not in the morning!

I almost missed the postman just now!

They will be available in the group buy. I only got three, each a different model. I paid $141 for two of them, the third was "free"... I was lucky to get three for the price of two, and i was lucky i got the price of ten each for only one each.


Now comes the exciting part. The testing!


First up, the long FL lens. This one has the lowest NA, so the power will be lowest, but it's the easiest to mount...
This is the lens i wanted for myself, so that i could have at least one laser with a fatter beam but with as much power as possible and no retroreflections.


And guess what! It works!!!!  ;D
It makes a beautiful parallel beam, with ZERO distortions! Finally working lenses!!!!!!


My 6x is now equipped with the first, working, coated, customised lens!  

Due to the longer FL and the resulting lower NA, my 6x now only does 246mW.... But i wanted a longer FL lens for better burning...
My 6x is never gonna see a plastic lens again!  ;D


EDIT: After cleaning this lens the power jumped! It's now higher than what i originally measured. It's the same as it was with the first custom lens! Only that there much of this power was in the distortions around the beam. Here the power is IN the beam!

Yes, just the finalized (coated) samples, so that i can give you all the final results for all three, before the GB...

That way we can select the one with the best properties, and go full in with the GB, without ANY risk to you guys, because we will know the final results up front!


That's why it was worth it to me, to pay so much for the three..

Well, i can tell you this much. I already love the first lens! And that, even tho it brings the lowest power increase.

And already know what the second lens will do. The third has the shortest FL and highest NA. If there is any light left over by the second lens, this is the one, that will pick it up and pass it with the highest posible transmittance and lowest reflective losses...


However now i have some real work to do. I shouldn't be playing with lenses. So the other two will have to wait a bit.

I should wait and work, but how could i, when i finally have good lenses here!
I just had to take care of one urgent thing.


Next i'll try to mount lens # 2..


BTW, the blu lens (#3) has a coating, that looks red (408nm AR).. That one is not gonna be very good with reds.. But it's gonna be freaking awesome with blu rays!  ;D

The other two look golden pink-green..
