anything at all just to give us an idea?

Ooo, if this is the only chance, how many can I obtain? Also what price? I was thinking of acquiring 10 or something, but I just don't know what the price is per lens. If it's like $15/lens or something, I might have to revise the number.

It might be the only chance for broadband. 405nm optimised ML will be available afer the broadband, will be slightly cheaper, better for blu, but not too good for red..

Also, i did ask if the 40 broadband can be increased a little, and how much, before we lose the special coating price. It can be extended to 80, so there is no practical upper limit. In fact, it would even probably bring the price down a bit.

But $15? Even the spherical lenses cost me more than that a piece... We are talking about aspherics now, which are usually MUCH more expensive due to a more complicated manfacturing process (look at ThorLabs lenses, those are all aspherics)... It's a miracle, that we can afford this at all!

Put me down for one broadband Igor. Gonna have extra stuff to test ;). What sort of time frame are we looking at, on this broadband mini gb?

Thanks

Then I'll have to revise the number. ;) I just don't want to make promises I can't keep.

Anyway, right at the start, i believe i mentioned a price of ~$23 for the spherical ones.. (it started with $30 and went down a bit)

Now this is a completelly different lens from a different manufacturer. Better optical properties, due to being an asphere, higher tansmittance glass, and even a better coating (for the final 405nm ones), similar coating for the broadband ones.

I just did some calculating, and it would seem it won't be that much worse than what i originally imagined! Even for the mini-GB!

Bionic-Badger: I won't consider anything that is said a promise, until the person actually clicks "Pay Now" anyway. You can think out loud as much as you want.. ;)

A few $ doesn't mean a whole lot so just ignore the if cheaper part. Do you take google checkout?

I'll be down for three, hopefully more if I can afford it!

Yeah, i tend to think so too. A couple bucks is not much if it's only once per person. But if you have to buy the whole lot yourself, a couple bucks a piece can mean the difference between being able to buy or not.

Unfortunatelly, there is no way i can take Google Checkout. I live in Slovenia. In fact i still haven't even tried getting money out of PayPal. You can't link a bank account here. The only thing i can do, is extract the money onto a credit card.

Anyway, i don't want to say anything too quickly this time, so i'll take some time to double check all the fees and do some calculations. But i am positivelly surprised, that it doesn't seem to be much worse than the originally intended price!

I just got the vacuum-pippete picker-upper-thingy yesterday, i need to arrange some more lens nuts, and of course test the mounting.

Luckily my vision is almost back to normal! But reading the forum is still quite painful. So i need to log off now.

Yeah... people are always trying to haggle for things... but when you're buying huge amounts, a small different turns into a lot!

Such as with my driver... yeah a $0.25 vs a $0.22 part seems negligible, but then you go to buy 1000 of them, you suddenly find yourself going with the part that's only $.22 because that's a $30 difference!

I would like to participate in the Mini-GB.
Then the Big GB later, when it comes...

Re: 405nm AR glass lenses - fit AixiZ  FEELER

i tried to read the last 2 pages of thread as best as i could (was surfing on my ipod touch in a lecture, so i was half taking notes too), but it seems this mini-group buy is only for the multli-wavelength lenses? Or if it was blu-ray they would be very expensive...?

so no blu-ray miniGB yet? cause i would be interested in getting in on it...

$23 hmm... I think I can afford three broadband ones (huge drop from ten!). It'll go well with the Krytons. Let me know if this is possible. Thanks!

Yes, the first order of ~40 would be for the broadband lenses. The coating is a process independent of the number of lenses. If i wanted the 40 405nm coated, i would have to pay the total coating price, which is two machine charges at 150 Euro each! Basically, the coating would cost 300 Euro. And with only 40 lenses, it would make them very expensive. The coating alone would cost 7.5 Euro per lens!

They are willing to put the 40 lenses into the broadband coating machine with another of their orders tho. Here the coating would only cost 80 Euro total or 2 Euro per lens.

So the mini-GB would have to be for the broadband lenses, that can be used both for blu ray and reds. They will still cost a bit more than the final 405nm coated lenses, beause even tho the coating would be this much cheaper, the lenses cost so much more a piece.

I definitelly want some lenses i can use for reds too. And this is a good opportunity to get them. There may not be another opportunity for broadband. Not sure. But it's possible, that the rest will be blu ray only, as it would cost too much to get two coatings at full price.

The only way around this would be to go all in right away, have most 405nm coated at the full coating price and some broadband coated at the special price. Then the price would even out between them and the broadbands wouldn't cost more than the 405nm ones..

Of course it's possible. I did not expect anyone to order 10 broadband lenses. Just a small number of people, one each would help to get this thing moving. This way we would share the load a little. I will still take the most myself, cos i don't know if i will be able to get more later and when.
