Update -

Hi Guys,

We are pretty much there and the order will be going in at the weekend so I am asking for those who are still outstanding to keep an eye open for their PMs as I will be sending a request with payment details later today. There are, as I said before, a few non-LPF orders that will take the numbers to the correct levels to get the promised GB prices so for those who ordered the, "Other Sled", and were worried I'd be coming back asking for those extra couple of dollars... Please don't worry, this will now not need to happen. It would have been tight had we not achieved the target but all is good. It took a bit of plugging outside but we did it.

Thanks to those already paid up and I look forward to getting this under way proper on Saturday! I'll update payments as they come in so you all can keep track, (and bug those that are slow :crackup:!). Obviously I'm not going to let this die for the sake of not buffering the odd one or two but my bank balance would prefer not to have to do this.

I'll speak to all in a while...

If you really want one, I ended up ordering 2 instead of 1. "Why build 1 when you can build 2 for twice the cost." (Movie - Contact) I loved that.
Anyway, I figured it would be good to have a spare if my 1st failed. If the 1st does fine, I would possibly sell the other off for cost plus the extra shipping. When I joined LPF, I just missed styro's LPC-815 GB and Cheech was kind enough to offer me 3 of his 10. I have so many things I want to try I could get another on a later GB with plenty to do till then. So if the 1st build go ok, want me to PM you?

Nice one Vaporizer. I think jander was offering just to help me out by getting the numbers straight for both sleds. Either way, the order is now in; jander can have a different sled if he wants and; get the one he asked for too! It's a Win, Win, Win situation! Not too many of those about! :crackup:

I agree to much drama suppresses creativity. I've read so much on here , made docs, saved pics & links so I don't have to look it all back up, put it in a Laser Folder for quick reference....I must have 8-10 things I want to work on. Just in case I hosed #1 I got a backup...lol
I plan on setting the driver to 500ma. If it survives that by the way I use one, 1-3min on cycles, letting the other one go spreads the data pattern out more. Win Win. :yh:

I think 500mA will do fine but DON'T QUOTE ME!

With good efficiency I think 500mA will be okay though. I'd be happy to leave mine there. I read in another thread that 425mA for 600mW or so should give a long life. Please search out the confirmation though.

The measured output was impressive. I don't have an LPM yet, so I can do a "life & cycle" test nearing the top.
If someone has it running well on 425ma, with the test graph, I think that warrants a higher input challenge. At some point you have to push a little to learn.
Others have done it, as how we have what we do, and the same people shouldn't be expected to take all the risk.
450 or 500ma.........? Decisions decisions...

According to the graph I think it's posted in mA can't say for sure 450 looks like a small knee or kink. I was going to run min at 345mA but it also seems like a bump in the curve.

I have not decided yet, but I'm leaning at around 375 to 400mA range myself.
