Not to hijack morgan's thread, but I have a GB of these sleds in progress atm. Mine will probably be closed after tomorrow since i'm in the waiting on payment stage now. So if anybody wants to get in now they they'd better. As long as it's taken to get enough interest to be worth it.. I know I certainly won't be doing it with these again any time soon.
^Okay... that was a bit of a hijack but no worries... I'm glad you managed to get it under way qumefox. The more the merrier...
Round 2 will be posted over the weekend and we have things to discuss I think people! I had a couple of unexpected samples of some other sleds sent to me with the GB. They were described as BDR-S06J 3D-12x sleds but it seems this may have been a misnomer as they look identical to the LG 10x sleds posted here -
Having said this, assuming they were 12x I tested them as that and got some good results. These figures and a graph can be found in this thread, (have a good look through as they are not all in the same post) -
This is clearly not a wide enough spread of diodes to assume anything concrete but those who may be interested can post in the 2nd Round thread when it's up. We need some more testing on these!
Initial, (off the top of my head figures), should be somewhere in line with Mohrenberg's estimates in the thread with the figures but I need to check PP fees, and shipping from the UK may be a little more than internal US costs.
Interesting times on the BR front at the moment!
I also shipped out the majority of the packages today. Not being able to open up my spreadsheet I am loathed to update in the first page until the weekend to save misinformation. I think all but 3 went out so most of them are winging their way!
@ ped and netwave - Glad they have arrived already. I see ped has already been brutal with one of them! Nice to know they get cles to the Watt but this isn't recommended!
@ Mike - It is an option for the GB to be what has been described as a BDR-S06J. It looks more likely they are in fact the 10x LG sleds but the figures still look good enough from this limited data point of view. It is something that needs a consensus. They SHOULD be cheaper but I think I will leave it to you guys to decide which to go for. It would be good to have some spread around if only for testing so future knowledge grows but the same is still true at the moment for the Lite-On sleds I feel. Maybe 2 GBs? Suggestions are welcome...
@ blackspirit - I believe yours is on it's way too! Obviously the UK guys have received theirs first.
Glad to hear those you've already recived their sleds are happy!
GB Round 2 will be open in a few minutes. I have had a lot of interest and questions about these. I know I said I would let everyone who showed interest know in the order they got in touch but I think this will impossible to achieve fairly so please forgive me if you feel I have let you down by not contacting you personally but feel better knowing I haven't contacted anybody as I feel this will be fairer. When open, the, "First Come; First Served", will be in operation for sleds that ARE available.
Thanks guys, keep me posted on new arrivals please...
Sled arrived! I don't get many packages via Royal Airmail.
This being my first trans-PHR-803T sled, for some reason, from the photos in the various reviews and teardowns of the sleds, I thought the sleds were a bit bigger. Not disappointed, just surprised.
