So, here it is in a nutshell.

I want to start a group buy for some Nichia diodes that Igor did testing on quite a while ago.
They showed to be almost identical to the 6x diodes, but a little less effecient, and with a rounder beam.
They sell them on o-like for $75 each, with $5 for shipping. This totals $80.
However, if i can get enough people to order 80 diodes, then the price reduces to $55 a diode.
US Buyers Only.

So:
Diode - $55
PP Fees - $3
Shipping - $10

Total: $69

These are the closest to a 6x we can get currently.
So, who's interested?

List:

Susie messaged me and said she reduced the amount of people needed to 80 :D

Shipping international would become make it more expensive than retail :-/

RACISM.

Did Igor ever finish the testing with these? I thought he stopped when the newer GGW-H20L came in.

There was no "newer" GGW-H20L.
He was testing it, but then he dissapeared.
Nevertheless, the "bends" in the graph were practically the same.

Here's a cut and paste from the last email Igor and I had about the Susie Nichia's

I think it's weaker than 6x..

It just has a rounder beam, that's all...

But from what i've seen, 6x's are tougher.

There now I'm sure that clears it up, eh

Peace,

I don't know....between Igor and Daves options they are not almost identical to the 6x diodes. I think its great you are doing a GB to get these at a better price but please don't misrepresent them.

You weren't here long enough to see the graph ;)
You only came here recently.

Hey, If you can find the graph and post it on here, I would definitly be interested in most likely one if not two diodes.

Even if you cant find the graph, count me in for one. ;)

I got your back.  I found the graphs.

I tried to find the info but only found recent opinions from Dave and Igor and not older info. Were did the info concerning the actual testing go? I saw one testing post but the diode died quickly. And is the "old 6X" the same diode as the GGW-H20L? How about longevity? Has the life of this diode been verified compared to the GGW-H20L?

Read this thread. :)

Also, I do believe that the old 6x is the GGW diode
Also, on that one testing post, the diode died quickly because he made a mistake by shorting out the driver. By doing so, he sent over 500mA to the diode and it died instantly, just like most diodes would. ;)

If I am not mistaken, He did say that it seemed like it wont last super long at 200mW.  At that power the GGW will outlast this one, but who cares.  You can't buy the GGW anymore!! :)
I think at around 160mw to 180mW will give it a decent life.  I could be wrong though.

There are 4 up for sale right now, but a little pricey. I think more testing needs to go into the life span of this diode. Why buy a diode that will crap the bed in a month? I can do that with PHR's at $8 each.

Well, I just bought one from O-like.  I will let you know how long it lasts.  Hopefully you will never hear from me again because it will out live me!!

Where are the GGW's for sale at? and how much?

EDIT:
Never mind I found them. $120 a piece. You kidding me!! LOL. I Don't buy from them anymore. TO SLOW There is no reason why something that is supposedly in stock, should take over a week for it to ship. Rediculous if you ask me.

Stonetek is the way to go. :) He needs to get more products though.

Better slow than nothing at all.. ;D

Edit: I'm not trying to make this a pissing match. I'm just trying to get solid info. Besides Igor and Dave I'm not just going to take someone's word for it. Sorry... So far you have been the only one providing the info, so I consider this all very sketchy at the least. I'll pass Spidey..thanks anyway.

Yeah, but your talking to someone who buys from DX all the time!!  This company is just too slow.

I understand, but I am willing to take the chance. Plus, O-Like is a reputible company, and I trust them.
Like I said though, I will test mine out when I get it and I will let you know how long it will last at 175mW with Jayrob's 405nm lense mod.  With that mod, I should be putting out around 220mW ;D

As for being Sketchy...Well, I'm slightly offended, but I will take it and move along.  I never once said that I knew everything about these diodes.  I just seem to be the only person on this thread who seems to care about giving out information.  I'm sorry for making it seem sketchy?  Oh-well, go waist $120 :)
