What kind of hosts can you put these in?

I found this to be an excellent little host for these modules! ;)

It reminds me of a 'mini' RPL...

I've got a few tips for DIY at the bottom of the first post. I made a custom heatsink/mount for a really clean finish, but a guy could make it work one way or another...

I'm probably interested in one module. Give me a day or two to make a decision. :cool:

Are these IR filtered?

I doubt it. Most modules aren't, certainly not at this price-point.

Most lasers at this power level need to use all the 808 IR power available so very little leaks out. Maybe someone with a power meter and filter will do a review on this.

so thats a no on IR filter? Would i have to add one or...could i just let it be...and will your 80~100mW modules light matches ect...ill probably use it to point at trees and stuff but would i be risking my eyes if i didnt get an IR filter?

Thanks

Aside from wearing 532nm-filtering-but-non-IR-filtering goggles, and shining it at shiny surfaces that reflect into your eyes because you think you're safe, you'll probably be all right. Otherwise, it'll be the 532nm light that is the real danger.

Remember, unless you're buying some high quality lasers, like those CNI-built PGL-IIIs (aka Alphas), the green lasers you buy are generally not well IR filtered anyway, even the ones that say they're "filtered." So count on a good 20% of your laser power being IR, and don't shine it on surfaces you wouldn't shine it on if you were avoiding the green light in your eyes.

Re: 100mW green laser module $60.00 Holiday

I apologize if this is a noob question;
but is 80-100mw it's spec wattage and (at our own risk) can it be overdriven to higher wattage for short periods?

thanks for any info.

You can probably risk it by changing the pot. Most of those green laser modules can increase the power somewhat by doing a "pot mod." Not sure how the crystals will hold up though.

Today I accidentally drove mine at 8V, but it didn't increase the output any. Didn't touch the pot though.
