I had the idea of this in a smaller size... combining dozens of IR pumps with fibers and fire them in a kickass big Nd:YAG/KTP :D

You'll need a bunch of cells to do that even with a 12X :) Just a thought, What happens when you're half way through the earth ??? :) Maintaning a tight focus through all the fumes will require a really good beam expander.

impossible.... it would have to have at LEAST one dvd burner diode integrated into the system. If not, the most you might get would be a puff of smoke!

Lighting white matches sounds kinda racial and non-PC :) 405 nM doesn't seem to care about color ( colour) ;-)

Thanks for the link GR8revealing, seem to remember reading something about this laser before it started operating.

Will it sting if pointed at skin?:thinking: Would make a great hair removal laser imo...
