Anyone tried this with a laser diode? (Huge wavelength shift)

Yep. Someone during 2013 SELEM was selling LOC diodes for 10$ last year. So some of us chipped in and bought one. Mariomater and I were making liquid nitrogen. We decided to put the poor little LOC into the cryogenic liquid to see what happens. I think it lasted 5 seconds or so before it LED'd. Thermal shock was probably too much for the poor little die.
We were able to see the diode quickly orange shift before it died. Was pretty cool. We recorded it but the camera didn't pick much up.
Recommend you guys try it if you ever get the chance. Im sure under more controled circumstances, the laser diode would have lived. Oh well, all in the name of science!
