Cool At What Distane is a 1 Watt Laser Safe

I know anything above 5nm has the ability to damage your eye but at what distance does the laser no longer become an imminent danger to someone’s vision.

For example, would a 1-watt laser at 300 feet do permanent damage if it were to flash over your eye or would the beam be too dispersed to damage your eye?

TIA

What is the beam divergence, exposure time etc.
This has been discussed here over and over and .....

Until you can determine otherwise...

Assume that a 1W laser will do permanent damage at 300 feet or farther.

(Hint, look into NOHD and MPE...)

I wonder why it show no flash-blindness for 445nm I have been flash-blinded by the dude I was selling a 445 too, I was about 250' away and it looked like a camera flash went off in my head and I had no night vision for about 5min in no way would I call it glare more like a flash bang without the bang. Also I was not injured but temp disoriented. it was 1 1.4w and was a 3 piece axis lens focused as well as I could get it to infinity. It has been also stated that by MPE that at 10 times MPE limit 50% of the ppl get some kind of injury. Though I don't remember where I read that.

then again it does say worst case, I just find it weird that by glancing at it 445nm cannot flash-blind you.

In other words, at the distance 445nm would give you flash blindness, it'll also be an eye injury hazard

so 730 some-odd feet so with the mrad and MPE what we are really seeing is about 300' you have a 50% chance from say a 1.4 W laser to instantly damage your eye give or take. WOW had no idea I flipped a coin that day. man I am glad I got heads and not tails on that one.

DID no math so my numbers are way off but, still. sobering
