The title pretty much says it all, I have a "<50mW" green laser from Focal Price (goes without saying it's unfiltered) and i want to block the IR.

I have a bunch of webcams which I don't use and I want to tear the filter from one. But I need help. I'll take it apart (I love taking stuff apart) and keep all the bits, but can someone direct me as to what an IR filter looks like? Because as it happens I've never seen one before....

Thanks in advance

If it has one, it will be right on top of the CCD chip. There will a small plastic, or rubber square holding it on the chip. It will be a square coated piece of glass.

Ok, that's better than nothing. I... think I know what a CCD chip looks like. It's black & shiny, right?

The black part is holding the filter over the CCD. You should be able to peel it off.

The chip look like this.

Ok. Thanks.

What are the chances of a webcam not having one in it?

Nvm. Think i got it. There's a little transparent square attached to the lens, that seems to reflect light with a slight red tinge. Sound right?

Alright, got it. It's pretty! One side reflects red and the other reflects blue. When put down it's like... invisible.

Now, it's pretty tiny. How should i put it in? Will Cellotape do or does that have too high an absorbancy?

That little IR window is so light you should be able to stick it in place with just about any type of adheasive.

Dont use supper glue. You can use some caulk, most people have it. Any rubbery type of glue.
