Default UVEX Orange Glasses

I'm on a budget right now and am looking for some laser safety glasses for one of my lasers. It's being shipped with a(probably) cheap Chinese pair, and I'm not sure if I want to take any chances with that. The laser probably doesn't have an IR filter, so simply looking at how much light is reduced won't be enough to properly gauge their effectiveness, and I don't have an LPM currently.

Has anyone recently tested the effectiveness of these glasses? I've seen a few reviews conducted 5 years ago that indicate that they are perfectly fine for 445nm, but I'm not sure if that still holds up now.

Which laser are you getting these for? A 1W 445nm?

445nm lasers DO NOT require an IR filter as they are direct diode lasers, unlike 532nm lasers which are DPSS.

Is it really worth risking the safety of your eyes to save $40? I wouldn't trust the UVEX glasses personally.

Yes, it is most definitely worth it if all evidence points to them working just fine

Only buy cheap as a last resort- save up for the better ones. The very best are ~$300.
Save up for better and be extra careful until you do. if using cheap.
Uvex may be better than nothing but Uvex does not intend to have those goggles used for the purposes of protection from laser light and they say so in the Uvex specifications and warnings.

An Eagle Pair is a excellent solution they are relatively low cost actual laser goggles. See: Safety Goggles

Those Uvex tests by other members were done quite a long time ago. Manufacturing processes and dyes used are subject to change. The product can change alot and still be good for their intended purpose.
Uvex goggles are not tested to the same specification as would be required for laser safety.
Think about it--at less than $10 retail a pair, why wouldn't Uvex corner the market on laser safety goggles, and blow all those cheap chinese junk, and overpriced over regulated certified laser goggle manufactureres and suppliers out of the water if otherwise was the case.

If you "must" go cheap, they are slip overs and CE projectile certified.
These are the "only" pair I would recommend from "fasttech" and it looks like they took their other one's down..

Thank you all for your help! I'm settling with UVEX for now, but I don't really intend to use my laser indoors all that much. Next thing I'm saving for is an Eagle Pair
