Hey guys! I've been a laser enthusiast since I was about 15. Starting with a 5mw laser to building up to a nice 1000mw laser now. I'm very safe, constantly using eye safety and what not. I'm looking for general information on what the beam can do to you when you stare at it indoors / reflection / outside hazards. I'll obviously treat it with the same caution I do with every other laser I own I just want to know some general information about everything. I was browsing the laser subreddit on Reddit and couldn't find too much. This is my first time with a laser this powerful so safety is key! Go easy on me LPF.....

Hmm, staring at the dot indoors is really gonna be uncomfortable and damaging, even though it probably won't seem too much brighter than the 1W laser you already have. Just about any use indoors without glasses is not recommended, unless you have it stable and not moving around like on a tripod, as well as having the beam terminated on somewhere not flammable and dark in colour. Reflections, if you get hit in the eye while unprotected then that's gonna cause some serious damage. So don't wave it around all willy-nilly, indoors or out. Outdoor hazards, don't point it at any buildings, windows, cars, etc.. CHECK FOR AIRPLANES, HELICOPTERS, AND SATELLITES BEFORE YOU EVEN TURN IT ON!! Also, avoid drawing too much attention to yourself. Best of luck, be safe.

Awesome. Just what I was looking for, I can't wait for it to come in! Im also looking at some of the members here who build and sell their own. Got any recommendations? There's so many talented builders it's crazy!

Man, there are so many options for machinists here that I can't really recommend, it's all up to your personal preference. Browse the Laser Pro Shop section, browse the plain ol' Buy Sell Trade section, find out what machinists' work catches your eye. Personally, my favourite machinist is Sinner, here's some of his showcase. But of course, you may have totally different preferences.
