I ordered these off amazon for a 2W-2.4W 445nm laser I ordered http://www.amazon.ca/HDE-Protection-Safety-Glasses-Goggles/dp/B009T6RN0G

I received the glasses before my laser so I looked up a visible spectrum image and the whole area around the 445nm point was black when I looked at it with the goggles. I put it them front of my camera and took a picture. It captured pretty much what i saw.

They should be good to go with my laser right?

Yes they are good for your blue laser. I have a pair of these myself. That ANSI certification is a standard for impact and splashes of chemicals, so it means you can use them with power tools or when working with chemicals. These glasses have also been tested by members here. Ah, thank you! I'm glad my shot in the dark bargain basket glasses are good. I was worried when it didn't say what nm they were rated for other than "blue and green". The hard case is a nice bonus too.

Looking at a picture of a "full spectrum" on a
screen won't tell you anything. Televisions and
monitors do not produce a full spectrum.

Also, don't look directly into the laser even with
the glasses on!

This is untrue. The HDE glasses are very good even though they are cheap. Eagle Pair are much better, but the HDE are probably the best you can get at a low price. They are not generic (a consumer product having no brand name or registered trademark), they are HDE (a company in Pennsylvania). There are however some generic red glasses the same style that are for green only that are no good, they don't come with the case and have printed on the frame "Made in China" , don't buy those and don't confuse them with the HDE glasses.

HDE is hottest deals ever, not exactly what I would consider a legitimate laser safety company. Pretty much the equivalent of deal extreme of fast tech.
These are just red colored safety glasses branded as laser protective glasses most of the time, hence z87.1 certification.
Also just because 1 persons pair of these generic glasses works doesn't mean other pairs work.
These cheap glasses have no manufacturing regulations so the dye mix is always different. Hence the inconsistent performance.
Please nobody ever buy these for lasers greater than maybe 200mw.
Seriously no offense but these glasses are just bad news, never buy them.
Get Eagle pair instead....
I don't think you would use red plastic pieces to protect your eyes. That's exactly what these cheap glasses are. Red dyed safety glasses.

EDIT: if you can't spare 40 dollars to prevent eye damage this really isn't the hobby for you....

EDIT: they're still generic even if hde sells them

Ok after having fun with my blue laser i went and ordered a high power red one. I've also decided to go with a bit better goggles since I have a feeling I'm going to end up going deep with this hobby. Are there such thing as goggles that protect from purple, blue, green, red and IR? With my limited knowledge about light thats telling me that would technically block out basically all visibility since its filtering most the visible spectrum right?

That's correct, it isn't possible because you wouldn't be able to see anything. Get a separate pair for red, they will be blue.

Cool. I picked up a pair. I got another question not about goggles. What kind of non-reflective surfaces can I aim a 2.2W 445nm laser at relatively close distances for when I want to take a longer exposure picture. This thing seems to burn even white walls from over 10 feet after a few seconds so just aiming it far away just doesn't work while inside. Would a matte finish black metal work best?
