Default Quality of O-Like/Rayfoss goggles? (T-Rex brand)

Hello all,

I was wondering about the quality of the O-Like/Rayfoss goggles. (T-Rex brand)

They're said to be OD5/OD6, but the dot is very visible through them.

Would anyone be nice enough to use a LPM to meter how good these filter?

Thanks,
Valid.

A link would be nice, there are some crappy goggles around, but I can only guess what kind of goggles you have.

Well the specifications appear identically incorrect to the crappy goggles somebody around here reviewed, so be very careful untill you're sure they really work. If the dot of your laser looks bright through the goggles it's wrong.

Yea that definitely looks like alot of light is passing through. You can send the glass and a laser to someone with a LPM in your Area to test it out for you.

I tested a set of the O-Like 532/473/445/405 goggles.

The dot from a 445 read 850mW without the goggles, and 6-7mW when passing through them.

I did melt a couple spots on the lens when I kept the dot on one spot for too long.

That's roughly OD 2, but it's also important if stays OD 2 if the laser does point steady to one spot. But OD 2 is only good up to 100mW to be safe, above that gets questionable, some people say a 5mW exposure is safe (with a normal blink reflex), I try not to push the limit and stay safely below 1mW.

Bogart? as in Bogartman on eBay? I saw your listing on these T-Rex brand goggles on eBay.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Laser-Safety-Goggles-OD-5-OD-6-405nm-445nm-532nm

They look like the ones on O-Like that go for 19.99 USD

I just want to know do you have a beam shot or video on these goggles? I was planning to build a 1W 445nm laser and if the OD rating on these goggles would sustain such intensity.

Also, do you offer any LPF member discounts?

Would it be safe to use these goggles for 532nm green and 445nm blue:

It is similar to this one:
